Today was four of cups.
My first impression was that the figure on the card is asleep and unaware of what he's being offered. The book describes him as in contemplation and oblivious to what's in front of him. Close enough.
One of the meanings is "re-evaluation of one's earthly pleasures". Also, dissatisfaction with material success. Both of these can easily apply here. The other meanings... possible as well, but I think these are the most suitable for my situation.
What it boils down to is: You need to re-evaluate your priorities. This goes in line with the general narrative that I've been seeing lately. You need to change, you need to form new habits, you need to take a new direction. Change, re-evaluation, re-prioritizing.
I think I know the direction that I need to go; I need to re-prioritize what I do at work. I need to re-evaluate my spending habits. I need to concentrate more on my well-being both physically and mentally - fortunately, I've got a head start on that. And there are some things I need to take initiative with (driving....)
Well, I'm going to take this card's advice. But I'm going to take it one thing at a time. Work first. Well, and exercise, but in a way that goes hand in hand with work. It is affected by work, and it also affects my performance at work. If I am tired and sore and uncomfortable, I can't be as alert and productive as I would like to be. Ditto if I'm mentally not there; it doesn't help. So... there we are.
