Fest season = soon

I told myself that I wouldn't buy any more doujinshi for a while, but then I came across this one by a tumblr artist, and it looks so good. I'm normally not into Prussia (not to mention Brandenburg, Saxony etc) but it looks really interesting, it's historical, and it's in English. So, I decided, "fuck it, I'll buy it". I'm normally super shy about contacting artists directly, but for this it was worth it. They're so nice and I have a feeling this book is going to be really cool.

There's a Nordic Secret Santa starting up; signups are going to be open for an awful long time, though... assignments will probably not be sent out until mid/late November. ?! Even though the minimum wordcount is 700, that is a shorter window for writing than I'd like, since the final is due around Christmas. But I signed up for it anyway. We'll see how it goes. Last year was fun (though my assignment was pretty challenging) so hopefully this year will be good too.

And the
surstrommiakki fest is going to be opening signups some time this weekend too. Even though it's taking on a lot at once, I think I will definitely sign up for it. I need a break from writing Norway, and writing Sweden/Finland is always an interesting challenge.

On the one hand, it feels like a lot to take on at once. On the other hand, I recently finished off a 5k one-off fic, and I don't really feel like taking up my long WIP again for a while, at least not intensely. So I can just poke at it until I get my assignments, and then throw myself into them completely, since I won't really be working on anything much.
