Summary: Chinen and Ryutaro are best friends and Chinen promised not to leave Ryutaro... They met new friends, but their closeness is still the same. and Ryutaro has somehow, hidden feelings towards his best friend. But Chinen met someone that somehow broke their friendship. Will they be able to get their friendship back?

“Where’s Ryutaro?” Chinen asked after dragging Yuto to the rooftop since he came late earlier and noticed that Ryutaro’s seat is vacant.
“You’re asking where he is?” Yuto asked quite in a cold tone.
“Well, I went to their house yesterday and earlier but they told me Ryutaro is not home.” Chinen replied quite nervous when he heard how Yuto talks to him. “I just want to talk to him-“
“You still want to talk to him?! AFTER YOU MADE HIM STOOD UP IN THE RAIN FOR 3 HOURS?!” Yuto snapped and Chinen jolted by the sudden shout.
“But I told him-“
“HE’S YOUR BEST FRIEND FOR FUCKING 4 YEARS, CHINEN YURI!” Chinen thought if he’s really talking to Yuto or is it someone else he’s facing right now? “YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN RYUTARO DOESN’T BREAK PROMISES!”
And Chinen just realized about that. How can he forget about that? Just a simple fact about Chinen?
“He told you, he’ll WAIT! RAIN OR SHINE, HE’LL WAIT! But what? You texted him that you can’t go since it’s raining and not to worry because Yamada-senpai will send you home?! Are you even worried at Ryutaro?!”
“I AM WORRIED AT HIM! I WAS ABOUT TO GO BUT-“
“But what? Yamada-senpai held you back?” Yuto said angrily and Chinen was taken aback.
“How did you-“
“I was assigned to take photos of your practice that day and I saw everything. I saw how the two of you cuddle with each other while your best friend is waiting for you in the rain!” Yuto took a breath for a while then continued. “And he knows Chinen, he knows because he told me to tell him.” his voice became gentler. “You just left him, Chinen. The feeling he doesn’t want to experience again, you let him feel it. You, who promised that won’t leave him.” those are the last words before Yuto took off to search for someone to confront to leaving Chinen sobbing in the rooftop.

“Yamada-kun,” Yamada looked at his classmate who is calling him. “Nakajima-kun from 1-A is looking for you.” When Yamada went out, Yuto looked at him first and told the latter to follow him. Yuto walked ahead of Yamada maintaining a great distance between them. When they reached to the old botanical garden, Yamada immediately asked him. “What do you want?”
“Are you trying to break them off?” Yuto asked.
“Who?” Yamada replied.
“Chinen and Ryutaro.”Yuto replied, looking at Yamada’s eyes.
“I’m not, why?” Yamada replied sarcastically which irritates Yuto.
“Because you are trying to.” Yuto said before pulling Yamada by the collar and push the latter’s back on the tree, his other hand on the side of Yamada’s head. He leaned closer and say, “You know, I won’t forgive you if you dare hurt either Ryutaro or Chinen. Because they are my friends and I treasure them like how I treasure my family.”
Yamada was left speechless because of the sudden action of the younger one.
“And you know what? Ryutaro trusts me. A friend of mine for only 4 months. He trusted me when I said I saw you and Chinen together that night. Because Ryutaro knows, what I say could hurt but it’s the truth. He knows I will never tell any lies that will only hurt my best friend.” And Yuto left Yamada speechless, standing under the tree trying to digest everything that Yuto said.
Because of what Yuto said, Yamada loosen his strength. A tear dropped from his eyes as memories flashes back unto him.

“Ryutaro-sama, you have a visitor.” The maid said and opened after hearing to let Keito in.
Though with a heavy head, Ryutaro sat up only to be greeted by Chinen who has a very worried look. Seeing Chinen makes the fire on Ryutaro being lit. He lie back and told Chinen to go home.
“Ryu-chan,” Chinen called but Ryutaro didn’t respond.
“I’m sorry.” He apologized but then Ryutaro didn’t respond. “Talk to me, Ryu-chan.” Chinen walked closer to the bed until he reaches it and sat on it. He placed his hand on Ryutaro’s shoulder to make the latter turn to him but his hands were pried by Ryutaro.
“You know Chinen,” It’s quite an odd feeling for Chinen to hear hi full last name being called by Ryutaro. Ryutaro sat up and turned to him, looking at him with a painful eyes. “Just because of your love for Yamada-senpai, everything that we have is gone.”
“But Ryutaro-“
“You resigned in soccer club for drama club.” Ryutaro interrupted making Chinen shut up perfectly. “Then what’s with that? You’re the one who promised who won’t leave me, Chinen. I’m done with all of the people leaving me behind. My parents did, and now my best friend. After knowing you slept at Yamada’s senpai’s house while you told me your home already that Saturday night, you know I don’t want to be lied to. You know how I hate liars, Chinen. I don’t know Chinen if I can still trust you.” Ryutaro laid back again, his back facing Chinen.
“Now, go.”
Chinen can only cry while leaving Ryutaro’s room. But before that, he put a small box on Ryutaro’s desk.

Ryutaro woke up when he heard a rustling sound. He sat up and saw Yuto putting his dinner on the bedside table, and Keito who is busy watching some movies on Ryutaro’s room. “Feeling better?” Yuto asked and Ryutaro nodded. “I heard Chinen went here earlier. So, how’s your talk with him?”
“Nothing. I shooed him away.” Ryutaro replied nonchalantly and Yuto can only sigh.
“Here, I saw this on your desk.” Yuto gave the box that Chinen left earlier to Ryutaro. Ryutaro took it and based on the wrapper, it came from Chinen.
“Just put it back there.” Ryutaro replied as he shove back the box to Yuto.
“You won’t check what’s inside it?”
“It’s from Chinen. And I don’t want to see it.”
Yuto complied then he gave Ryutaro his dinner before making the latter drink the medicine while Keito is still watching a movie.
After 2 days, Ryutaro went back to school and he is trying his best to avoid Chinen. But once he sat on his seat, the awkward atmosphere surrounds them since Chinen and Ryutaro sits beside each other. Chinen on the other hand feels lonely without Ryutaro. Even Keito and Yuto are avoiding him.
Yamada haven’t come to him too ever since the talk he had with Yuto. Chinen went to school alone, he do his homework alone, he eats lunch alone, he goes to school alone. Now Chinen knows how Ryutaro feels when he’s being left out. There’s always this pain in his chest and it seems like, because Ryutaro is not around, half of him is missing.
3 days, 4 days, 5 days, 6 days, 1 week… Chinen felt too lonely. He already had Ryutaro but he unconsciously let go of him. He felt hurt whenever Ryutaro gazes away from him, he felt hurt when Ryutaro ignores him, he felt hurt when Ryutaro walk pass by him, but he felt hurt seeing Ryutaro smiling, laughing together with Yuto and Keito. He doesn’t know why, but as if thorns are pricking his heart. And he doesn’t know why but he felt jealous seeing Yuto and Keito taking Ryutaro far away from him.
He admits, he like Yamada. But he doesn’t know if the latter likes him back. But the way Yamada treats him special, gives him the conclusion that the latter likes him back. He just assumes it especially when Yamada asked him to stay over in their house. And now, he’s standing near the lockers, back on the wall with Yamada’s lips on his. He wasn’t able to reply the kiss as he was too surprised with the sudden action. It’s sweet, gentle, yet something is wrong. Yamada was about to deepen the kiss but Chinen gathered his strength to push the latter away.
“I-I’m sorry.” And Chinen dashed off leaving Yamada behind. He traced his lips with his fingers before clicking his tongue. He likes Yamada, right? So, he should be happy when Yamada kisses him. But, why does it felt too wrong?
