A few translations I made recently...

1) Captain's interview for SWITCH magazine in August 2016

The other day Sanma-san said on his radio show "Young Town" that they just had a meeting for SanTaku at FujiTerebi. The show will be on air in this coming April. To celebrate this good news, here's a translation of Captain's interview for SWITCH magazine back in August 2016 (only the part about Sanma-san).

2) Translation of a part of a special interview on Mugen no Juunin website

"These are his thoughts as Director Miike looks back upon his meeting with Kimura Takuya.

As much as we're creating an extraordinary tale, converserly, I think that we can feel it overlap with the real person that is Kimura Takuya. From our perspective, it is the dream of people like myself who create entertainment [to be able to work with Kimura Takuya]. After all, this even surprised my mother. There is the feeling of, "Kimura Takuya? Doesn't this mean you've achieved your goal?" (LOL) Even grandfathers or grandmothers in their 80s think the same way. It was together with that person that I was able to create something. I would feel ashamedly apologetic if it (the movie) ended up being something ordinary."

3) A tweet by Horiuchi Masami-san about Captain

"While I have heard some slanders about Kimura Takuya, although I have known him for a short period of time only, he has not even once given me an unpleasant feeling. There's even time when upon seeing his attitude in tackling the job earnestly, I feel I too have to shape myself up. He also has a sense of humor. A nice guy!"

Note: FYI, Horiuchi-san is an actor who acted as Megumi's father in I'm Home and Igawa sensei's father in A LIFE

During I'm Home, he also posted on FB sharing a story about his encounter with Captain at the studio on a certain day. Here's a translation of that FB post.

“Yesterday, before the recording, when I entered the studio lobby, Kimura-san…based on the schedule, Kimura-san finished the recording one hour before.

“Ohayou˜”
“aa..Otousan Ohayougozaimasu!” from a national star, being called Otousan is not bad at all!

When Kimura-san finished greeting, he said “Then please pardon me for leaving first.” and then left with his manager.

Upon asking the staff, “[Kimura-san] had been waiting for Horiuchi-san to enter [the studio]”.

During the past 40 years…the leading actor, while already finishing the filming, has been waiting just to say a single word of greeting, I’ve never encountered such a person…

Such a wonderful guy!”
