A strong performance from Yamamoto Yusuke in a role of murderer

November 11th, 2009

The winner of [21st Fuji TV Young Scenario Taishou] was announced on 11th at the television headquarters at Daiba, Tokyo. From 1450 applications was chosen Kuwamura Sayaka-san's (age 27) work [Rinne no Ame]. A stage appearance as a surprise guest was made by a starring actors who presented a bouquet of flowers to scriptwriter. The leading part of committing murder was trusted to 21 year old Yamamoto Yusuke and his mentally-handicapped younger brother is played by Seto Koji (21). Recording of drama has already finished.

Yamamoto said [It's a work with truely deep thought, so it wouldn't be good if emotions aren't shown with proper care. When acting I hoped that people will feel that even mentally-handicapped person have different kind of feelings.] Seto Koji commented [Before filming began, we rehearsed and read the script countless times and also watched various related footages. This work has a difficult theme yet handled by young people which is wonderful. I would be happy if this work leaves an impression on viewers.] Yamamoto who showed a deep affection towards younger brother said with a smile to Kuwamura-san who was also impressed by strong performance [At first, there was inexplicable tension, like being afraid of smth. We were worried if our acting was good enough.]

The work describes the bound between siblings of whom one is mentally handicapped who, after the death of mother, are abandoned by father. It's a serious and heavy drama. Although the younger brother is an employee it's his older brother who is living the life out but with an unexpected event his degradation stops, making this a socially strong work - [The conflict of protagonist: swinging between "affection" and "hate hard" toward little brother and suffering deep inside the heart from irrationality of society - is shown very finely with a light touch].
