My Quick Review: Leverage

Since I just finished Season 3 of Leverage on DVD, I thought I'd do a quick comparison and review of the three seasons, and how they stack up against each other. Pretty non-spoilery, it's mainly going on my memories of the three seasons, and my own personal ratings for all the episodes.

Season 1: 13 episodes
A good opener to the series in general, the episodes maintained decent quality, with no real stinkers, and some truly great episodes towards the final 4 shows.

Purely Subjective Season Average Rating: 7.46/10

Season 2: 15 episodes
With no break in between season 1 and season 2 for the writers, the quality of the show took a real beating in the first few episodes. In face, the first three of the season are the worst of the series. Just really killed any joy for me. It got better, and then nailed it with the Two Live Crew Job, which is still probably my choice for best episode of the series. Stayed pretty consistent in the back half of the season, and finished strong. That opening though just really brought the season as a whole down.

Purely Subjective Season Average Rating: 7.07/10

Season 3: 16 episodes
A much stronger season, with two truly great episodes, and three that are almost as good. If not for the Two Live Crew Job, the Rashomon Job would be the best of the series. The only thing that really hurts this season is the final episode is SUCH a let down from the episode right before it. Just a huge shift in tone, losing all the excitement and thrill from the penultimate episode.

Purely Subjective Season Average Rating: 7.69/10

I'm looking forward to seeing where Season 4 goes, and kinda crossing my fingers that Leverage gets a fifth season, but also that the fifth season is the FINAL season. 5 years is about right to me for these characters. Go out strong, and have a big finish.
