Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Yamada went to the library, he seldom went there, but he was there that day just to look for a queit environment so that he could read his favourite novel quietly. He loved that book and it's already his third time reading it. He was sitting at the table at the inner part of the library where less people passed by.

Hand on his chin to support his head while his hair covering his side face, Yamada was focusing on the story, until someone tapped his shoulder from behind. He turned back and saw someone smiling to him.

“Suzuki-san?” he was shocked to see the girl standing just beside him.

“Haii~” the girl answered with a cheerful smile, putting her right hand on her head while tilting it by a little.

“Ehh? Is there anything?” Yamada wanted to continue with his story, but he couldn't just ignore the girl right?

“No, nothing, just that I saw you here, so I'm wondering what you're reading ne~” she bent forward and looked at the red cover of the book, “Ahh!! I used to read novels written by this author too!” then she showed Yamada the book she just borrowed, “You see?”

Yamada just smiled and nodded, then he lowered his head to continue reading again.

“Ne, do you mind if I sit beside you?” Suzuki asked, holding the book with both her hands, looking so shy.

Yamada looked up and smiled again, a bitter smile, “Ah, yes, sure.” he nodded and back to his reading again. He just wanted to continue his reading as soon as possible.

Sukuzi sat down and flipped open her book, reading the first few sentences then she looked up at Yamada again, “Ne, Yamada-san..”

Yamada looked up, a bit annoyed, but they have too be nice to girls, HAVE TO. He pushed himself a smile, “Yes?”

“I haven't read that before, and the library doesn't seems to have it too,” then she hesitated shyly for awhile.., “Can you borrow it to me after you finished reading it? Please?”

Yamada was shocked by the sudden request. This book? Erm... He smiled politely, “I'm sorry ne, Suzuki-san. This is a book my sister bought me. I treasure it a lot so I never lend it to anyone ne.” He's slightly sweating.

“Sou ka.....” Suzuki was pouting in her heart but she always made sure of her perfect image in front of Yamada, “It's alright ne~” she smiled sweetly.

Yamada gave a small sigh of relief, then he closed his book and stood, “Erm... I'll be going back to the class first..”

“Ahh, choutto!” Suzuki quickly packed up her things, “I'll go back with you, please wait for awhile ne~” She made her eyes large and watery, so that she looked innocent and cute.

Yamada didn't know what to do, he just forced himself to smile and nodded his head, giving out a bitter laugh, “hehe...”

Suzuki smiled happily. She followed Yamada out of the library, back to the classroom.

….............................................................................................................................................................

“Yama-chan~!!” Chinen grinned widely as he bumped into Yamada, cliging on him.

“Chi?” Yamada was shocked, but still, he patted Chinen's head, who was hugging him.

Suzuki was always mad to see Yamada being with Chinen. She pouted and went back to her seat, didn't want to see them being so close to each other.

“Ne, Yama-chan, where have you been just now?” asked Chinen.

“Eh? The library.. I'm looking for a quiet place to read ne? With you around, there won't be any chance to have a quiet environment right?” Yamada chuckled as he tiltled his head and looked at Chinen, who was making his 'chi hua hua' face.

“Mouu~ Yama-chan meanie!!” Chinen pouted, but after a few seconds, his eyes suddenly turned wide and gave a sudden hug at Yamada's arm.

“E-ehh?? Reading?? Yama-chan you're reading??” The little guy was still hugging Yamada's hand as he jumped up and down, asking annoyingly for an answer.

“Yes yes dear.” Yamada sighed.

Chinen stopped jumping and grinned sweetly towards Yamada at the second he heard the other boy calling him 'dear'. Yamada smiled and pushed the little boy's forehead lightly with his fingers.

“Ne, what book are you reading?” Chinen, still grinning of happiness.

“Ahh, it's the book my sister bought me last christmas. It's interesting ne~ ….. Oh ya, do you wanna have a try?” Yamada showed the red cover book to Chinen.

Chinen shook his head, “I'm not really used to reading.” he tugged out his tougue, “Besides, if it's what your sister gave you, Yama-chan will surely treasure it ne?” Chinen pushed Yamada's hand, refusing to take the book.

Yamada thought momentarily and continued, “It's okay, I've read it quite a few time. Besides, it's really very interesting, so......share?” Yamada smiled, passing the book back to Chinen.

Chinen couldn't take Yamada's charming smile. He received the book with both his hand and giggled shyly, “Arigatou ne Yama-chan~”

Yamada smiled again and ruffled Chinen's hair, “We're best friends right?”

“Uwaaaaaa!!!! Yama-chan is saying something sweet again!!” Chinen turned around and ran away, covering his slightly blushed face with the red book, leaving a clueless Yamada behind.... “.....sweet?” he scratched his head.

…............................................................................................................................................................

It's after school and Chinen stayed back a little longer for some reason. Chinen was rushing himself to pack up his stuff as Yamada was waiting at him at the school gate. Suzuki slowly approached to Chinen, “Chinen-kun.”

“Hai?” Chinen looked up, wondering who it will be.

“Mind to have a talk?” Suzuki asked. But looking into her cold eyesight, Chinen knew that he did not have a chance to say 'no'. “Hai?”he didn't know what else to answer the girl who was acting strange.

Suzuki swung her eyer over Chinen unwillingly and smacked her hands on Chinen desk, looking straight into him, “Can you stop following Ryosuke around and just leave us alone?”

Little Chinen was shocked and slightly jerked. Ryosuke huh? Chinen thought. She must be so close to him to call Yama-chan that way.... Suzuki was scary, but since it's Yamada-related-issue, Chinen won't lose that easily.

“Why should I?” he asked with the evil smirked on his face, not expecting any good answers from her.

“Because I am Ryosuke's girldfriend.” Suzuki said it matter-of-factly.

Chinen was shocked. Okay, Yama-chan never told me that.... Chinen slightly pouted thinking that Yamada kept a secret form him. He stared at Suzuki and gave a loud sigh.

“Fine.” Chinen looked down sadly, and continued to pack his things. I lose this round. He thought.

“So stop packing your stuff. You're not going home with Ryosuke today. I AM.” Suzuki stopped Chinen from putting his things into his bag, “And don't you ever come interrupt us.”

“E-ehhhh????” Chinen looked up with a suprise and unbelivable face. So I'm not going home with Yama-chan anymore? Why didn't Yama-chan tells me about it?

Suzuki smirked satisfactorily to see Chinen's expression. When she was going to turn away, she spot something on the table. A red book.

“Isn't that Ryosuke's book?” She asked, pointing at the book.

“Hmm? Ya..” Chinen answered, taking up the book and looked at the cover of it, wondering what made Suzuki's face to look that way.

“Why do you have this book?” Suzuki's face was as black as ever. She was like biting her own teeths to control her emotions.

“Yama-chan lend it to me.” Chinen got a big question mark above his head. What's the problem of that?

Suzuki moved forward in a big step and rapidly snatched the book away from Chinen's hand. “Hey!” Chinen frowned, “What are you doing??”

“ Liar.” Suzuki said while keeping the book in her bag, “Ryosuke never borrowed this book to anyone.”

“He DID lend it to me.” Chinen said, hopelessly while giving a sigh.

“Ryosuke asked me to take it back from you. He said that it's too troublesome and he didn't know how to ask it from you.” Suzuki crossed her arms in front of her chest, staring at Chinen with an annoyed sight.

“Ehh? Yama-chan said that?” Chinen looked sad, he looked down and whispered to himself, “Yama-chan should have just told me what he thinks...”

Suzuki gave a smirk of victory again and left the classroom.

Chinen was standing there alone... I'll go look for Dai-chan then. He thought, moving slowly out of the classroom, still looking down.

….............................................................................................................................................................

Yamada was watitng in front of the school gate. What's taking Chi so long? He had a glance on his watch..

“Ryosuke~” Suzuki jumped out from behind, giving him a bright smile.

Yamada jerked. Why is she calling me 'Ryosuke'? Erm.... oh well... “Erm.......... Is there anything? Suzuki-san?” Yamada was still searching around for Chinen while talking to the girl.

Suzuki smiled, “Ahh, you can just call me Hanawa ne~” (*Her name is Suzuki Hanawa)

Yamada was shocked and he looked at Suzuki for a moment..., “I...I think I shall just call you Suzuki-san.” he nodded his head softly with THAT KIND of smile on his face.

Suzuki acted cute and pouted on Yamada, making her cheeks round,“Mouu~” But Yamada was not looking at her. He was still looking for dear little Chinen.

Suzuki was annoyed. She sighed loudly to catch Yamada's attention. “If you're looking for Chinen-kun, he won't be coming. The teacher is looking for him so he asked me to inform you about it.”

“Eh?” Yamada finally seemed to get interested about what Suzuki was talking about, “He's not coming? Hmm..........”

“Yes, so.......” Suzuki made her eyes big and wide again, “Let's walk home together ne?”

“I........ think... may be it will be okay...” He sighed and walked away, Suzuki followed him.

Passing through some shop's window, Suzuki glance at herself. Short refreshing hair that Ryosuke mentioned in the magazines - checked ; Cute and enchanting make up - checked ; Short mini-skirt - checked. Nail polish - checked. Everything is perfect. You looked wonderful. She smiled confidently and ran forward to walk beside Yamada.

“Ne, Ryosuke.” Her voice was so soft and sweet, so different than the voice when she was talking to poor Chinen.

“Yes?” Yamada looked tired... at least not as energitic as he usually was.

Suzuki quickly take out the red book from her bag, “Your book.” She grinned sweetly as she passed it to Yamada.

Yamada's eyes turned wide, “I thought this book is with Chi?”

Chi again. She thought in her heart. How she wanted to crushed that word so much. Chi? Hmph!

But her expression never changed in front of Yamada. Slowly nodding her head, she acted as if she looked so afraid and worried, “Chinen-kun said....Chinen-kun said that the book is very boring and he lost interest of reading it. He asked me to pass it back to you...rudely...” then she put her fingers near her mouth to look innocent and helpless.

Yamada took the book from her and giggled, “Eh? I don't think that Chi will act that way.. Maybe his mood wans't that good at that moment.”

But actually Yamada wasn't that calm. Deep in his heart, he felt like grabbing his head and went Uwaa!! Uwaaaaa!!! Did Chi really did that? Oh no! Did I make him bored? Uwaa!! What have I done?? Yamada flipped thorugh the book swiftly and found a bookmark in it. ….book mark...?

Suzuki pouted again as Yamada wasn't affected by her act, “I think you're too beautifying him. Chinen-kun is not THAT good.” she blurted.

“Stop that.” Yamada's expression turned serious. He never looked that way in front of girls, especially fan girls. “Stop talking bad things about Chi.” Yamada stared fiercely at Suzuki. He finally made out everything now, and he was positive about what he thought when he saw the fearful eyes of Suzuki, as if unwanting to let Yamada knew that everything was made up by her.

“Chi will never did such a thing and I know that.”Yamada said firmly without suspection in it, “I will get angry too if you gone too far. Even if you're a girl.” Yamada kept the book.

“But-but...”Suzuki was looking for explaination, “Don't you think that I loo-look... cute??” Suzuki made her pose pulling her skirt like a princess, “ne?” she tilted her head.

Yamada didn't even tense to look at her. He made a face and turned his head away. Not even half way to Chi. He thought.

“But Chinen-kun is really....” haven't getting to finish her words, Yamada turned back to face her again, staring staright at her, “I SAID STOP.”

Suzuki was so frightened that she stopped talking immediatetly but looking at Yamada with teary eyes.

“If you're just trying to tell me bad things that will hurt my best friend, then there's no need for you to talk to me again.” Yamada was going to turn over when the girl blurted, “But, Ryosuke...”

“That will be 'Yamada-san'” he said, and left leaving the girl.

Yamada was going to head home straight away but he sudddenly remembered Chinen. What about Chi?? Did THAT Suzuki did anything to him? Yamada stood and thought momentarily.. Nah, Chi must be going back with Daiki... or maybe Yuto ne. Then he took a few steps forward, looking up and stopped his legs again..... Maybe just having a check won't hurt. Yamada turned back right away and rushed towards the school. I hope that Chi has gone home already.. He ran as fast as he could as he didn't have a great feeling about it.

…............................................................................................................................................................

Yamada raced along the hallway and saw the classroom door still wide opened. Don't tell me...

Chi!! He was about to shout out that name but he was amazed by the scene outside the window behind Chinen. It's not that late but the sky somehow seemed red. Chinen was not making any movement. He was sleeping soundly on his desk with the face of an angel.

Why is he still here?? Yamada silently moved close to Chinen and brushed his bang aside. Watching his sleeping face, Yamada smiled but felt a deep guilt inside him. What have I done? Why did I ever believe the words that the girl said? Yamada bit his lips. He held his fist tighly to calm his emotions down, then he softly tapped Chinen, “Chi.” He called softly.

Chinen gave no response after a few seconds. Yamada started shaking him, “Chi?” he called again.

Chinen moved his head a little and slightly opened his eyes.. “Mmm... Yama-chan?” he then closed his eyes and continued his nap... then those eyes went big again, “YAMA-CHAN???” Chinen jumped awake and Yamada was shocked of the sudden loud called by Chinen.

“Ehhhhhhhhh??” Chinen kept on rubbing his eyes, trying to confirm that he's awake or not having blur vision. “Yama-chan is it really you??”

“Erm.. yes, it's me, 'Yama-chan' desu.” Yamada still felt guilty. He ruffled Chinen's messed up hair and smiled warmly, sawing the little guy grining back to him.

“Ne, Chi...” Yamada stopped his action, Chinen looked at him with curiousity.

“Why are you still here?” Yamada asked stright-forwardly.

“E-ehh???” Chinen giggled, “Why is Yama-chan here then?”

“I, err, I... Bwahh!! You know I'm bad at explaining!!” Now Yamada is messing up his own hair, “I mean, where is Yuto? You're not going back with him??”

“Keito~” Chinen replied, giving Yamada that look. Ya right. Yamada thought. Why didn't I ever thought of that?

“Okay then,” Yamada didn't seems like he's giving up, “What about Daiki? He won't mind walking back with you right?”

“Erm.. Dai-chan sort of got CARRIED away by a bunch of his female classmate for Karaoke...” Chinen's face looked pale remebering the scene he saw earlier. “Kowaii..” he shivered, rubbing his own arms.

“And they didn't invite you with them??” Yamada asked in worried.

Chinen remained silent. He didn't said a thing but slowly lowered his head to stare at the ground.

Yamada didn't know what to do. He quickly grabbed Chinen's hand and gave him a cheerful smile, “Let's go home then, ne?”

Chinen looked up at Yamada with his sparkling eye, “Uhn!!”

…............................................................................................................................................................

Along their way home, Chinen never uttered a word and that made Yamada more and more worried.

“Ne, Chi.” he called, but Chinen did not reply.

“Chi?” he turned to Chinen and saw Chinen turning away from him. What now~? Yamada seemed helpless.

“Chi!! Why are you pouting on me??” Yamada couldn't stand the awkward atmosphere.

Chinen still didn't turned to face Yamada. He was pouting in a low voice.. “Yama-chan never told me that he had a girl friend...” He poked his fingers, “I thought that Yama-chan never kept secrets from me....”

Yamada aslmost fell when he heard what Chinen said, “WHUUUT??? GIRL FRIEND?? HELLO??Why can't I even remember ever having a girl friend??”

“Ehhhhhhh???” finally Chinen faced Yamada , “ But-but Suzuki-san said that she's your girl friend!!?”

“And you believe what she said?” Yamada placed his hands on his waist.

“Erm... cause she's calling you 'Ryosuke' and she's acting very scary, so I thought that....” something hit Chinen's head that made him stop talking.

“Yama-chan?” he grabbed the thing that Yamada placed on his head, looking up at the smiling Yamada. It's the book, the red cover book.

“Ehh????” Chinen was surprised that the book was in his hands again.

“You haven't finished reading it yet right?” Yamada continued to walk.

“But Suzuki-san said..” Chinen was confused.

“Like I said, don't belive a word she said. Everything was planned up by her. She told me that you said the book was boring and wanted to give me back...”

“But I never said that!!” Yamada's words was cut by Chinen's.

“I know.” Yamada smiled caringly, “I know Chi never use a book mark on the book he dislike. And Chi will never did something that mean.” then he turned to Chinen, “ne?” he tilted his head.

Chinen blushed. Now he's feeling guilty for suspecting Yamada earlier. He ran forward and jumped onto Yamada's back.

“Uwaa!!” Yamada was surprised by the sudden ambushed hug. Chinen chuckled and put his arms aroud Yamada's neck.

“Am I heavy?” Chinen asked.

“As light as a feather.” Yamada smirked cool-ly.

“Uwaaaa!! It's the second time Yamada being sweet today!!!” Chinen jumped around his back and Yamada was trying his best to keep him balance.

“Ne, Yama-chan, did you told every girls that when you carry them?” Chinen asked when he was finally back to his normal state.

“I never carried other girls excperto for Misaki.” Yamada replied. (*Misaki = Yamada's little sister)

“So Suzuki-san is not Yama-chan's girl friend?” Chinen asked for confirmation, “And Yama-chan is not angry at Chi?” he asked as the third person.

Kawaii~ Yamada pinched the smaller guys cheek softly as he turned back to look at him, “I won't even befriended with someone who hurts my best friend.” he said firmly.

Chinen grinned sweetly, “ I love you Yama-chan!!!” and he hugged Yamada tighter.

“I know,” Yamada smirked, “ I love you too ne~ especially your face.” then he giggled.

“Ehhhhhhh~~ Nande~???” Chinen complained, but Yamada just wouldn't stop laughing.

He burried his face in Yamada's back as he mumbled, “Mouu... Yama-chan the meanie..”

Yamada grinned, “and Chinen-kun the cutie~” he seemed to enjoy himself very much.
