Why, hello there, strangers. Thanksgiving was a strangely uneventful affair - usually someone says something that I'll take offense to or tells a story about me that I don't care to hear but...nothing, at all. On Sunday we had a big spread at my grandmother's house so that everyone could come and then another dinner on the actual holiday at my aunt's. I'm not going to lie, it does feel a bit empty without my grandfather and cousin Nick. I suppose that's something I'm going to have to get used to, since it hasn't been that long. I'M NOT GOING TO PUKE SAD SHIT ALL OVER LIVEJOURNAL so I'll quit now. Oh, great, now I made myself sad. Nice going, self.
Even though Meg got the plague right before Thanksgiving, she was well by early Friday morning so we still managed to go Black Friday shopping. Since we left at around 2:30, we missed most of the big rush but still managed to snag some sweet-ass deals for Christmas presents: I got a nice new jacket from Old Navy half-off (because I spewed coffee all over mine after Meg made me laugh and she took pity on me) and Hot Topic had a buy one shirt, get one 50% off deal and with a 20% discount card, we got both for $27 :O AND A SHIRT FOR MOM FOR $10 THAT WAS ORIGINALLY LIKE $45. Anyone who says that Black Friday isn't worth it is a lying liar who lies.
Then around noon in the food court at the mall, we saw a lady and a man with a camera asking around if people wanted to do an interview about Black Friday. It was the local Hattiesburg news crew, which...to be honest, I had no idea that Hattiesburg even had a TV station. So Meg and I volunteered and talked a bit about the deals we'd seen and how is really is worth the trouble. We tried to watch the news to see if they put our bit in when we got home but the channel wouldn't come in, fucking cable service. But my cousin had been watching it and he texted Mom and said we were on the 6:00 news :O
SO YES I WAS ON TV FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY ENTIRE LIFE AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SEE IT ;AAA;
Oh and this happened:
This afternoon, a pair of wild turkeys came into the yard. Meg had been chilling out in my car with her eyes closed and when she opened them for a moment, they were like...a foot from the open door DDD: She honked the horn and my cousin and brother shooed them so she could run inside. Then after Meg took the above pictures, the feathery bastards started trying to attack them and my brother had to chase them out of the yard with Meg's cane.
This has been the most eventful weekend.
