Quick update on life in the big apple:

1) Kaeden came last weekend and it was incredible. We spent Friday night and the day on Sat in the city, went to a Vassar alum's halloween party on Sat night and then right after headed to long island to see the fam. Had fun debating with his crazy grandpa about the environment, then watched some cool foreign film about lesbians... though the name alludes me. By the way, Sat night I was Barbie and he was Ken, which was so fun in its mockery of heterosexuality. In truth, I just looked like Paris Hilton and he looked like his cute little self in a shirt and tie, so it was highly enjoyable.

2)On Monday I went to school as pippi longstocking, but when I got there my head teacher was wearing a blond wig so I pulled mine out of my bag and we both went to classes in wigs. A kid in my class named Joel laughed that we looked like the guys from "White Chicks" (men in drag) and I appreciated both the poke at queerness and our whiteness. After all, we were two white ladies teaching a bunch of brown kids math in blond wigs. Somewhat amusing in its disturbance.

3) Went to the Village that night with the boy and it was insanity. Too many people in one place, no way to get anywhere and hardly moving sidewalks made the experience not what I had hoped. But it was good to be with Kaeden... saying goodbye was next to impossible.

4) Tuesday was a really rough day at school; k was in the carribean so we couldn't talk, i had a wicked headache and I was just generally grumpy. On account of all that, I headed up to Vassar and saw friends and just enjoyed myself. Went to QCVC and watched a movie about schools that are incorporating talking about queers in the curriculum. Good times. Also, wrote a paper on how fucked up urban education is because of --segregation--. I feel like all I'm doing this semester is writing the same essay with that one word replaced. Oh well, it's still interesting.

5) Yesterday I had school and then went to a GSA meeting at El Puente. Only two students came but it was still pretty awesome. If they need it, then I'm glad it's there. Worked on my final project for classroom management and went to bed thinking about my future math classroom. Woah.

Now I'm going to BACK to vassar before Kristin and I head up to Wellesley to see Caitlin and ELyse!!! wooo i'm so excited, except that this paper is going to be the death of me.

Lots of love to you all.
