When I'm ashamed to be a scientist

It took more than 1 year for Miller Brewing Co. to file a patent for clear beer after Cystal Pepsi was born in 1993. There is a competing patent (as I see it anyway) that ALSO claims to make clear beer that sounds awfully familiar that was also granted in 1997. My guess; Miller'd've been more pissed if anybody would have liked clear beer ('cept for you screwballs drinking Zima).

So, while I was on a beer "kick", I decided to look up - 'calories in liquor'. Kind've a duh since you DO METABOLIZE alcohol or you'd be continually drunk. And, the point of the metabolic process is to render unto your body some serious energy. So, yeah, shots have appx. 100 calories same as a light beer'd have. That's all I REALLY wanted to know...'s my Scotch contributing to the middle line...

If that's not shameful enough, I also found this (emphasis mine)----
The combination of alcohol and a high-calorie meal is especially fattening, mainly because alcohol acts as a potent appetizer. A Canadian study shows that an aperitif (an alcoholic drink taken before a meal to increase the appetite) increased calorie intake to a greater extent than a carbohydrate-based drink.

Tremblay, A., & St-Pierre, S. (1996)
The hyperphagic effect of a high-fat diet and alcohol intake persists after control for energy density.
