I'm a little behind on this LJ thing! It seems like that's why so few things get started...because we're always BEHIND the second we begin.
But you don't care what happened to me yesterday, right? (well, hell you probably don't give much of a flying monkey turd on a cracker about what I'm up today either, but a guy can hope!)
So anyway, taking a lesson from the Beatles I'll try to keep the 'yesterday's' to a bare minimum. BUT--since nothing's happening yet today--and I'm here...lemme tell you real quick what treat I got to see last wednesday.
I'm driving to work, and there's nothing between me and the sun but a thin sliver of the frozen lake. And lo and behold I'm introduced to a new astronomical phenomena.
"hello astronomical phenomena!"
"I'm a Sun Pillar son"
Here's some examples--apparently I got to see the rarest kind--a CLEAR AIR sun pillar, where the bottom third of its visual height was over open air with no backdrop of clouds. I seriously thought I was hallucinating for a good 30 seconds. AND, I nearly cause several accidents rubbernecking to see this damn thing. I don't even go that hardcore for hot girls. 'Course, hot girls are seldom standing still to your relative motion and an apparent 300 feet tall.
A little one--'nother clear air kind
And a picture of the ACTUAL sun pillar I saw--albeit much less cool than the view I had
Last--but most. The coolest actual image I can find of the event.
I can't tell you how awesome it is--you're in the rat race. It sounds blase to say, but it's a rare treat to have something this spectacular to look up at. I hope that even almost a week later; and moderated by your monitor, that this event touches you where you are.
