Just days away from my flight out of LA, I've been mostly wasting time, though intending to pack my stuff at home...
Days ago I felt as though my sister and I had made a breakthrough of sorts. I don't mean to say that we will never disagree again or I won't feel hurt by the things she does (or vice versa), I've definitely bonded with her since coming home.
Sunday night, she and I spent 5 hours talking about what's been going on with our lives, and even if she jokingly lets me into parts of her life, at least some of it was serious. And I finally got some things off my chest about my life too (the particular subject being one I hadn't really talked about in 4 years). I hope she understands more about why I am the way I am, and that somehow I can understand her better than I thought I could.
In the course of this week we've driven all around the valley for random errands and shopping trips.
Wednesday, however, we decided to take a trip to Zuma. Now, I've been there many times in the past, but I never drove there so I don't exactly know the way. She's been there quite often too, and claimed she knew the directions because she and her friends go there so often.
I was unaware of how far it actually was from our house. I also hadn't bought more gas for the car yet...
Apparently in the distracting conversations about some song or other, she missed notifying me of the turnoff. When I was starting to complain about how far this seemed, she realized we missed the exit. So after turning around... we realized we missed the exit by A LOT. We had to have missed it by more than 10 miles!
Besides the gas issue, (oh.. and time... gah) that wasn't so bad. But I was fricken hungry (4pm w/ no lunch yet :0 ). We passed by some random guys playing volleyball and it happened to fall near us and my sister freaked out. I laughed it off and we kept walking but then the guys started harrassing us about wanting to play volleyball with them.. Unfortunately, because I teased her about her freaking out, I couldn't fake not knowing English (although, they had thick accents of their own). It made me wonder... how many times do people attempt to get strangers' attentions before it's sad...? I swear they kept saying "HEY" and random other things I'd like to forget at least 6 times but how could they not get the picture that we're not interested? Ugh.
After settling on a place, my sister and I promptly started eating the sandwiches she made for us.
Crazy thing; as I was eating my second half, probably only 2 or 3 bites into it, I was laughing at something and felt something pinch my hand!
Fricken bold seagull flew over, bit my hand w/ the sandwich in it and stole it :(
I swear, we were laughing for about 5 minutes; I laughed to the point of tears (partly because it bit me, partly because I was hungry and my lunch was stolen by a freaaaaking bold bird, and it was beyond hilarious). That's a pretty messed up way of making me not eat too much for lunch.
Ah, well. This was all just a distraction from what I've really been thinking about all week... Though the sisterly bonding was fun ^_~
funny,
sister,
