And it is on to the next one.

I turned thirty last month. I am pretty excited about my thirties. A pretty good chance that I am going to have a good time with it.

So, here I am finishing my master's degree in biology. Long story short, some time ago I came up with a way (at least in theory) to produce self assembling nanostructures using DNA as glue, lipids as gaskets, and proteins as engines. I bounced this idea off of one of my professors, and eventually he offered me a job. I will be entering as a PhD student in the fall in the nanoscale science department.

I have started a company to handle the intellectual property matters of the whole thing. I am applying for funding, and hopefully this time next year I will have my own lab and office on the other side of campus. An evil laboratory. Nice.

Doctor. That is weird to think about. Ten years ago at this very moment I was pulling cod off of the Aleutians. Eight years ago I tricked my wife into loving me. Five years ago I started my undergrad. Two years ago I had a kid. And so it goes.
