So recently my mom had had enough with our local news paper and canceled her subscription. As a result, I've been getting sales calls from them "trying to win back our patronage".

Best way to put off a sales call:
"I'm sorry, we're no longer interested in receiving your paper due to the severe and constant misrepresentation of City employee's salary and benefit."

Poor woman had no idea what to say.
