This is a response to a
post irisangel made in
new_shinra87, re: whether or not Tidus' return at the end of X-2 made Yuna's journey less significant...I ended up writing a big 'ol essay instead of just a comment, so I'm posting it here to save space on her comments page :)
(
really long analysis on Yuna's journey )

I think your arguments were pretty consistent and if you missed anything, then I missed it too. Again, I really like your comments. It gives me some more to think about. :-)

Wow sorry it took me so long to reply to this...*blush*
I love discussions of this sort so much...as fans, none of us can ever know the true "right" answer to any of the questions left open by the games, and I love any opportunity to really go into the meaning of the games...as I said, I love studying religion & myth, and psychology, and FF in general is like a huge playground for such loves...I fear sometimes that I get so passionate in my interpretations that I will end up coming across as though I am telling someone they are wrong, and I definitely would *never* mean to do that...but I am glad you read through this! Thank you for posting your topic, it is certainly an excellent one to think about :)

But that really was amazing and I do agree with a lot of the things that you said and Yuna did develop a lot in X-2 but what really annoyed me in that was how some people treated her especially that bloody Beclem and his summoners are in the past thing and treating her like crap some of the people didn't seem to understand and in the 'Eternal Calm' they all seemed to be using her as well and expecting her to get married not seeming to care about how she was feeling.
I really really wish there was never an option to change Tidus's name though because it was always 'him' I agree with what you had to say about them being in balance with one another and you could tell and see there relationship forming the end always makes me cry... I'd like to say more but if you have anything particular that you want me to comment on let me know again hope you don't mind me commenting :)

Now I forget where I read this, but the theory that Tidus is Shuyin reimagined was resolved by SE and he was not modelled after Shuyin. The interview answer went something along the lines of Dream Zanarkand's population breeding like normal humans over the 1000 years, so the populace of Tidus' DZ is not the same that was dreamed up originally. Frankly, I find it possible that when the city was revived, Lenne and Shuyin were too, in dream form, and therefore, they could be Tidus' ancestors.
