... the weather is unseasonably gloomy. Unfortunate, perhaps, but I rather believe that cool weather will be much more conducive to hiking about the campus than hot, sticky, Indian summer-ish weather would be. Sure, the firsties may be misled, but it could be a good idea to show them that yes, weather does exist in Southern California! Perhaps it's not quite as extreme, but it's alive and well.
Anywhooo. OL Training has commenced. I've had to wake up at 8am today and yesterday, and will wake up at 8am again tomorrow. And the days just keep beginning earlier. No rest for the weary whatsoever.
However, the work makes it all worthwhile. I hadn't forgotten how fun it was to be an OL; no, I UNDERESTIMATED the joy I got out of it all. And every day I wake up earlier, I wake up more excited about Orientation. I cannot wait to meet the incoming freshman, especially my group.
How amazing is this? When the OLs were getting their group numbers, I said to Larisa that I would love it if I got number 6. Then, Heather R. called out "Group 6... Hanna!" O_O sums up my reaction pretty well, I think. I mean, what a coincidence!
I didn't get any freshmen that I had talked to in my group, but that's okay. They would have ended up with an advantage over their fellow first-years, if they came in already knowing their OL, so it's probably a good thing that I didn't.
Anyway, while we aren't training, my fellow OLs and I are socializing, which is great. Sunday, move-in day for us, we went out to eat at TGI's. That was a little awkward because, with such a large number, the table ended up splitting into two different conversations, and I was oftentimes lost. But it was just great seeing everyone again. I shrieked like a little girl so many times that day.
Then yesterday, a group of girls trooped over to my apartment, which I'm sharing with Jessica for the week, for cookies and chit-chat. I haven't laughed so hard since the day Sara and I ate at CPK in Orange. Though the "cotton is a plant" episode at the Fair was pretty hilarious too.
The training days themselves have been pretty fun-filled, though sometimes weariness just hits me out of the blue. I really should get into bed earlier for the next two weeks, though I know when my roommates get here we'll be up late for a while too!
I forgot my TV. >_<
Anyway! Those have been my last few days in a nutshell. I realize I bounced about a bit, but that's me. You'll get used to it, if you haven't already.
As always,
Hanna
