Kagurazaka

I went to Kagurazaka today, it is located around 30 minutes from Shinjuku by bus, but since I live nearby, I went there on foot (10 minutes from Waseda University). My main purpose is to drink coffee, but my husband ended up arranging the date plan which included visiting Akagi Shrine and a Buddhist temple. Akagi Shrine is Aiba’s filming location for his upcoming drama ‘Boku to Shippo to Kagurazaka’.

What caught my attention the most was the line of ema beside the main worshiping hall. Almost all of the prayers which written there were about Arashi’s 20th anniversary tour. The prayers to win the tickets for their live tour this year. There were also support messages for Aiba’s drama and Nino’s movie. I found the same thing at the Buddhist Temple which located nearby. Almost 90% of the prayers were hoping to win Arashi’s tickets. Some the ema even written in foreign language other than Japanese.

It’s really interesting to finally experience Arashi’s extreme popularity in their home land. There are so many new Jhonny’s groups which name I couldn’t even remember, but Arashi stands firm on top. If you plan to visit Tokyo, I really recommend to visit Kagurazaka. It’s not as crowded as Asakusa and there are a lot of stylish shop. If you happen to love cats, you should visit this shop (picture attached).

The ema that I wrote (sorry for horrible hand writing)

Almost all of them are about Arashi
