I often bring snack as souvenirs when I go to see my superiors or when I go to watch my senior’s stage play. Formerly, I got the souvenirs most of the time and when I ate it, it was delicious, so I kept the shop card and bought the same thing the next day. I went to watch Morita Go’s stage play in summer and I brought my favorite Baumkuchen. Go kun said ‘I knew this one, very delicious (laugh)’. I was glad that he liked it.
You seemed to analyze the situation before choosing the snack gift.
There were many actors involved in a stage play, so I brought something which could be divided into small pieces and could be eaten easily by many people. I tried not to bring something troublesome or with the short expired date.
For Aiba san, do you think that bringing snack gift is a proof of adulthood?
Formerly, I was given many snacks gift by other people, so I think I have to return the kindness. As an adult, I think we’ll be less courage when we go to meet people with empty hands. Now, I feel an adultness the most when I chose the summer and winter gift *note: Japanese culture in sending the gift to people who had an important role in their life.
Among Arashi members, you have a habit to give each other present every time you go for overseas work trip, but…
It was very different in choosing a gift for your superior. I’ve always bought T-shirts or coasters as the classic souvenirs for the members. Basically, I chose the things they can use in everyday life, but I never seen the other members wearing the T-shirts I bought for them so I think I’d better quit (laugh).
When we talked about Arashi’s activity this year, you had finished Arena Live Tour which started in April and will start Dome Tour in November. You also released a new album, there were many forms of ‘gift’ that you sent to the fans.
Our latest album is made with the wide range of music. The title itself is a questioning sentence ‘Are You Happy?’ and the answers from each of the listener would be different. Maybe some people are happy and some are not, I think there will be various interpretation regarding to this.
By the way, are you happy now or…?
I am happy! There are so much happiness in me. Eating the fruits (the snacks during the photo shooting) made me very happy. As I finished working I’ll have meal and only thinking about it made me happy. From fruits to meat (laugh). I think it depends on how we give a view on the situations. The happiness is similar to pain, people gets use to them. I want to get used to the pain, but not happiness, I want to be sensitive for it.
One of your happiness is during the concert.
It’s a place where we can communicate directly with our fans and I have been dancing and singing since my junior era. The live concert is the only place where we can do such thing. But, I don’t want to consider the live tour as a normal thing for me and I don’t want to get used to the happiness in it. I don’t mind if my everyday work is going slow, boring, or even when I face a failure, I just want to keep stepping forwards. I don’t want to give up ‘Keep going until you succeed is the success itself’. I always feel this way when I challenge something new.
