The stress has not yet set in. Let's take advantage of this.

So begins the week where I hole myself up in my room, emerging only to refill my coffee mug. It's the week where jeans and a sweatshirt become the outfit of choice because I can't be bothered to look for anything cuter to wear; the week where my bed becomes little more than a giant shelf for books, papers, and distant memories of restful ( Read more... )

I find it fascinating and kind of funny that "abroad" for you is home for me. =P Where do you go to school, if you don't mind me asking?

You know what I don't get? I don't get why I've never been able to find ANYTHING on the totally OBVIOUS parallels between the pilot of The OC and Rebel Without A Cause. Maybe I need to delve back into the world of film academia, but I remember seeing it for the first time and being so excited to go and read about it. All for naught. Seriously though. Badass from out of town meets rebellious goody-goody. They talk in the driveway. And smoke. They allow a total social reject (Sorry, Seth and Plato!) to interfere with their sexual tension as they play in the empty pool of an abandoned mansion.

WHY DO PEOPLE NOT NOTICE THESE THINGS AND TALK TO ME ABOUT THEM? WHY?!

P.S. Good luck with finals!

You know, I thought I did read something somewhere about Ryan being all Jim Stark-esque. A ginormous light bulb went off in my head when I realized the parallel. And to be honest, I didn't really love Marissa or Judy. I guess that means Buzz is Luke?

Would comparing Seth and Plato imply that Sandy isn't the completely awesome father he is? And that Seth sees Ryan as simultaneously a surrogate father and a potential boyfriend? (Freud would've had a field day with this film.)

Oh, man. Now I want to work The O.C. into my paper. I wonder if an eleventh-hour change to my thesis is really a good idea...

Thanks for the luck!
