Appropriate entry titles are overrated. ;)

Yay for noteworthy weekends. In short, there was a lot of planning with The Kids, Alias fandom fun, and family fun. I’ll put my long-winded account under a cut because clicking is fun. =P

Friday
Attended early chem lecture and ran into Arnie while he was giving a tour to prospective UCI students, so I ended up having lunch with him and Grant, during which I found out more about homosexual-*ahem*-relations than I ever wanted to know. Let’s just say that I’m pretty much scarred for life. =/ Anyway, in the afternoon, I discovered the new MV pictures, nearly passed out at the beauty of them, and headed home early because Joyce had somewhere to go. After that, Allisantos and I picked up my little sister at school. Then there was the massive headache that was trying to figure out who could buy the Warped Tour tickets on Saturday morning. Yeah. Still no clue what’s going on there.

Saturday
I woke up relatively early to run some errands. After that, I went to my routine dentist appointment and picked up Thao. Despite me MapQuest’ing everything, I still managed to get lost on the way to Thao’s house because I have absolutely not sense of direction, so I played some phone tag with her while trying to figure out how to get to her house.

After that, we drove to Union Station where we met with chshalogrl and (a sleepy and very lucky because she had met Bryan Burke the night before) hijinx400. (Side note: Amy showed me a picture of her and Burky, but I have no idea why he looked like Joey Lawrence in that picture. =P) We kind of stood around for a little bit, not really sure what to do, until I led them over to what I think were the chairs used in ‘Almost Thirty Years.’ We would’ve hugged the chairs or something equally obsessive, but 1) we were in public and 2) they filmed that train station scene about three years ago, which means that there were far too many other asses that touched that seat after Michael Vartan graced it.

Anyway, we took a couple of pictures (links below) and ended up hanging out in a corner of the train station, talking for about an hour. At one point while Amy was talking, the Altoids gum I was chewing grossly started melting in my mouth, so I had to rush over to a trash can to spit it out. (And I’m only including this in my little narrative just in case Ellie and Amy are still wondering why the hell I got up while covering my mouth. =X)

Then, Amy called angvau57 to brag about being at the train station, and Ellie, Thao, and I talked a little more about SoCal vs. NorCal regional language and behavior. Amy had to go back to her hotel to go to a Lost event or whatnot, so the four of us parted ways in the parking lot. In all, it was really fun seeing Ellie again and meeting Amy, who was as witty and fun as she is online. Also, Thao got to see just how fangirly I can possibly get, so I hope I didn’t scare her too much. =P

And can I say how much fun it is to meet online fandom friends in person? Because it’s a blast. I can’t talk about stuff like this with RL friends, so it’s refreshing to refer to certain online people and the person you’re talking to knowing exactly who you’re talking about. I’d also like to add how amusing it is to call people by their screen names to their faces just out of habit. I know Thao was amused that I was “yumytaffy” to them.

And ooh, pictures!

After that, Thao and I went to The Pike in Downtown Long Beach to wait for Bagel to start her shift at Cold Stone Creamery. After we said hi to Bagel, we ended up getting some really yummy ice cream. I drove Thao home and headed home myself, and yes, I ended up getting lost on the way home, too, because I took the wrong exit, but I found my own way home, so yay for me.

Sunday
Today, I went to my niece Rebecca’s baptism, where I played cameraperson for her parents/my cousins. I did a pretty good job if I may say so myself. It’s good to know that if all else fails, I can always become a cameraperson. Anyway, the baptism itself went pretty quickly even though there were literally a dozen other babies getting baptized that day.

And I know I’m going to sound like a proud aunt, but my nephew Andrew is So. Amazingly. Adorable. He just turned 7 months old on Friday, and he has this new thing where he likes to kiss girls on the cheek (not males, though, for some reason). And the way he randomly “sings” (read: makes loud baby noises) is too cute for his own good. I’ll post pictures from the baptism later when my sister gives me the digital camera. For now, though there are a couple of pictures of him at the Redondo Beach Pier here and here and one of him and his grandma/my aunt here. Okay, I’ll stop gushing about the cuteness now.

To do this week: read the two chapters for bio seminar, write a rough draft for humcore, schedule a meeting with a bio sci counselor (*heart drops a little*), and study for Friday’s chem midterm. I think I’m going to finish this episode of Grey’s Anatomy, see if I can figure out what the hell’s going on in it, and actually get to work. Hope everyone has a great week!

ETA: EEEEE! One step closer to The Time Traveler's Wife getting to the big screen! It even has its own IMDB Page now! I know the movie won't be finished for a while, but I can't help but get excited because I re-read some favorite chapters this weekend and cried like the girl I am because the story is just that amazing. But Brad Pitt as Henry? Um, not so much. Kate Winslet as Clare I can believe, though. And yes, I'll get back to the school work now.

ETA 2: I forgot to mention that I heart Arrested Development. If it doesn't come back for another season, I will lose all hope for FOX and its future shows (except for 24, of course).

friends, the time traveler's wife, family, fandom, school
