Monday Funday

A bit of silliness to ease the way into the workweek:

6/18/11: The giant cowboy boot-shaped planter campjinx25 and I got our parents for their anniversary. Words cannot properly convey how hilarious/distressing it was to stand in the middle of Lowes for nearly a half an hour, arguing with her about whether buying this was a good idea while amused passersby observed us. Ultimately, I gave in, and our parents surprisingly(?) loved the crap out of it.

If every weekend could be half as good as this past weekend, I'd be a happy camper. On Saturday, I had lunch with my cousins and their little bundle of adorableness, Sydney. They asked me to be one of her Godparents. It was completely unexpected, and it blindsided me with this big cloud of warm and fuzzies. I mean, me! Getting to be Godmother to that sweet baby girl! I'm so excited! Can't you tell by all these exclamation points?!

And oh, my God, is this what being an adult is? Being asked to be a Godparent and taking on whatever responsibility that comes with that title? Because I'm fully prepared to spoil this kid with presents, but I'm not sure what else I have to do. The initial excitement has tapered off into a small panic over not knowing what "Godmother" actually entails, but I'll figure it out.

Of course, to balance out all that adult responsibility, later that night, a bunch of friends and I piled into my parents' short bus van and went out for birthday dinner and gelato. I hardly remember what the hell happened on that night, only that there was a lot of laughing, talking over each other, and a failed attempt at a car game.

Then Monday rolled around, and I walked into the office to find a huge stack of tapes on my desk, a To Do list from my boss, a small ant infestation under my desk, and the realization that this broadcast deadline we're quickly approaching is just this side of impossible. Oh, universe. Thanks for always trying to even things out.

friends, life through (crappy cell phone) photos, family, panicked flailing, randomness
