This week has been hectic. Yesteryday was the big SF Hospitality Expo at the Moscone so we have been busting our asses preparing for it. Over 1,000 attendees and I was standing from 1p-9pm! My legs are sooooo unbelievably sore. I just had no time to sit because I was running all over the place. There is another girl who is also the same position as me, but she started earlier. Basically, she thinks I am there to "assist" her since I came on board after her. This dumbfuck is so stupid to even realize that we are the SAME level with the same job title! At the Expo, she apparently tried to run the whole "show" so she could look like she did everything. I was told the day before to supervise the entire silent auction area, and she would be at the volunteer booth. Day of, she turns everything upside down and changes it all. My problem with her is how she did not communicate any of these changes with me leaving me in the dark, how she tried to put too much on her plate and not share responsibilities, and the fact that she didn't try to work as a team. There was just a lot of miscommunication going on and power struggle. I can tell she is insecure about me being there and making her look bad, which ISN'T hard to do. She knows i'm more efficient and a fast paced worker, so it worries her. I guess she's bitter that she had to come in last Sunday to catch up on work. HA! The funniest thing about her is how on the first day of work, she asked me if I could be her "little reader" so she could type some document??! OMG, HAHAHAHA!!!! I replied to her in a snickering voice " nahhh". WHO THE HELL NEEDS SOMEONE TO READ TEXT TO YOU SO YOU CAN TYPE??? At first I was upset at the expo, but then I thought about it and it just wasn't worth it. You will always have to deal with these types of people so I just grin and bear it. Besides, "Don't get mad, get even" is my motto.
Since she wanted to be all in charge of the whole deal so she could "shine" in front of her peers, I took a step back and "let" her be. I dumped a bunch of problems on her and what needed to be corrected in the silent auction area. There was chaos when all of the auctions ended because she didn't have any type of system when the winning bidders won. If she spoke to me about this, we could have saved a lot of time and made the whole process easier. There were over 170 prizes and she was stupid not to tell everyone on alphabetizing the cards? informing the bidders what to do next after winning? what the volunteers should do with these winning cards? let the cashiers know WTF to include on the receipts? These minor details were so critical in making things run smoothly. It was a mess because her head was too inflated. :D She's also too pig headed to realize that you need to work as a team if you want to accomplish things. I don't have to worry about her dumb ass since this Expo was one of the main projects. The highlight of the night was how she didn't want to wear her name badge because mine said: "staff" while hers said "intern". That one made me chuckle. ^_^ Overall, the expo was a good learning experience and there was a LOT of good food. I'm still thinking about those gigantic strawberries with the huge stem that you dip in chocolate. AHKK I should have gotten more. But my legs we killing me right after I sat down. It's like my muscles just all tightened up and my toes felt numb. I also discovered a huge scratch mark on my leg. I always find bruises and scratch marks on me and I have no idea on where I got it from.
I feel better venting about this since it was brewing inside of me from last night. Now, i'm not sure if I will bring this issue up with my supervisors because I don't think it's worth it. The Expo is over, I won't have to work with her at another big event, and she will be leaving soon. I just won't let anyone push me around...ever. I think the problems that occurred last night speaks for itself. If they ask me what my thoughts are about the event, I will simply tell them that there definetly needed to be better communication and working together as a team. Luckily for me, I gained some knowledge from my business classes on dealing with difficult, aka fucktards, like her in the workplace.
I can't wait until this Friday because my spring break starts. It will be nice to have time off from school!!!!!! ^_^ \m/ Friday i'm doing the Macy's Flower Showcase early in the morning. Afterwards, i'm going snowboarding with the gals for a bachelorette. I finally get to wear my new boarding boots and use my gear. Which reminds me that I need to start packing....
Something random: Do feet shrink in size? I use to wear a size 6 or 6 1/2 and now I wear a 5 1/2 shoe size??! I thought that was odd. I'm going to get a (much needed) pedicure today!!!!
