(no subject)
Tomorrow my sweet little devil of a gregarious boy will celebrate his 5th birthday. Right smack in between Christmas and New Year's. Tough deal but he chose it, being 3 weeks early and all. Imagine my surprise when I woke up in a Seattle hotel thinking I must have accidentally wet the bed in my pregnant state, I hadn't even bought one iota of Stuff Baby NeedsTM and definitely not a car seat (which one requires if they hope to leave the hospital with new offspring and no fuss).
Anyway, 21 hours later I looked at my new baby boy. The single entity that would demand, and receive, my unwavering focus, all my knowledge, my self awareness and humility. Not to mention time and strength.
I don't think I loved him at first, as some mothers profess to do. I learned to love him and that I did, with such fierceness that only one who is completely dedicated to a cause can understand.
5 years ago I altered my reality and never looked back.

Right, anyway, we're having cake around 6:30 tomorrow if anybody would like to drop by and wish the boy a very happy Birthday :D
