Breaking my radio silence...

Trying to find the time to blow my nose, let alone sleep & write in LJ, has been impossible lately! I've been meaning to tell you all about this, but I've been busy, busy, busy! Many of you may know that I own a cocker spaniel named Dustin, whom I'm extremely fond of. Other than the peeing (he's a submissive wetter) & puking, he's a fabulously fun dog! I got him in 2001, from a rescue foundation called Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue (http://www.cockerspanielrescue.com)), and I'm so glad that I did.

Well, now I'm fostering cocker spaniels for them (one at a time, of course)! OBG is such a great organization & I'm so glad that I can help make a difference. The current dog's name is Toby & he's just darling. He loves hugs, giving small kisses, cuddling, & can jump 4 feet onto the bed just to say good morning! I'm working on housetraining, but I've only had one household accident in 10 days (minus a few when I left him in the bathroom during the day--none for the past couple days, though! Go him & go me for doing all the training!). I can't imagine how anyone could give this sweet little boy up, I'd keep him in a heartbeat, if it weren't for the fact that it would be double the vet expenses, double the grooming, etc., which is very tiring (even if it's a good tired since you get dog hugs at the end of the day!). Everyone who meets him just loves him to pieces! You can see a picture of him if you go to the website, go to dogs available, & then to Best Friends. His name is Toby & he's also being featured on the homepage. I really hope that if you all are considering a new dog, that you'll consider a rescue foundation or a humane society since these sweeties really do deserve a good home!

Other than that, not much else has been going on. I had to leave work early yesterday, due to a migraine, which sucked horribly. Today, I had another headache, but it's almost gone, thanks to Tavist-D! Sometimes, I'm not sure what I'd do if it weren't for good decongestant drugs! This weekend, we're going out to celebrate my 25th birthday a few days early, which I'm really looking forward to since it's the first time I've gotten to party for my birthday in a loooooooong time (and I do mean loooooooooong). The next morning, I have an adoption show to attend for Toby. That same day, my high school ex is getting married, which is striking up a mix of happy, excited, & wistful feelings for me. We've been friends since 1994, stopped dating after almost 4 years in 1998, & have maintained our friendship for almost 11 years so I'm just happy he's finally found someone to spend the rest of his life with, but can't help wondering what might have been--even if I know it wouldn't have worked! My niece & nephew share a birthday that day too (they're only a year apart), but I can't do much since I'm not in Cincinnati to celebrate with them. Le sigh.

Well, I guess that since I'm being paid, I should probably WORK. Take care of yourselves & talk to you all again really soon!

Hugs,
Carmen
