no more anonymous posts. i took it out. funny how someone who hates you so much reads your journal like all the time & even takes the time to comment & not say who they are
( Read more... )
Anyway here's some stuff I seriously recommend if you haven't already picked it up...
My list of (post) modern must-reads: -Ethics for the New Millennium by His Holiness the Dalai Lama -Lustmord: Writings and Artifacts of Murderers edited by Brian King -The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver -Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk(sp?) (Great movie. Really fucking good book.) -The Beach was a book adaptation as well. I can't remember who wrote but it was one of the best books I've read from the past decade and it's really sad the guy has to live in the shadow of such a crappy, crappy movie...
Oldies but goodies: -Frankenstein by Mary Shelly (not so much horror as social commentary) -The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells -The Tell-Tale Heart and Other Writing of Edgar Allen Poe (I used to carry a pocket sized copy of that around like a freaking bible in high school) -Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (you kind of have to soldier through the first few chapters but after that it's gravy. Really good book.)
