Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.
Kankurou hoisted his scrolls higher on his back and stared out of the entrance to the cave, trying to scan the area for enemy ninja.
He frowned, finding himself unable to see anything but the steady stream of rain in front of him.
He sighed and sat back against the cave wall, one hand on his scrolls in case he should need them. Then he pulled off his hood and ran his fingers through his hair anxiously - he didn't like this, not one bit.
He really didn't want to stay in one place for too long but the rain wasn't giving him a choice. He had tried to press through it, hoping that it would only be a short shower but it had just gotten heavier. So he stopped at the first, dry space that he could find, hoping against hope that it was unoccupied. It was, so he decided to stop in the cave until the rain let up.
Now he'd been there for over an hour and the rain had continued at the same pace. He leaned his head against the cave wall carefully, allowing his eyes to drift around his surroundings. A vague memory caused his lips to lift into a small smile.
Temari walked into his room, presumably to tell him something, but instead of saying anything, she began to turn around slowly, taking in the room carefully.
Kankurou eyed her curiously from his position on the bed, an eyebrow raised in confusion, "Tem?"
Finally Temari stopped inspecting his room and turned to him, "Kankurou, how do you live in here? It's so dark and there aren't any windows. It's like a cave. Doesn't it bother you?"
He had looked around, shrugged and then replied, "No, I'm good."
Temari shot him a quizzical look, then shrugged and proceeded to tell him her initial message.
Kankurou opened his eyes - when had he closed them? - and looked back out into the black wilderness. The rain hadn't let up yet. He sighed and then got up, pulling on his hood as he did. Rain or no, he had to get home - he'd much prefer his own cave to this one.
