Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.
I’d move to Rockferry, tomorrow
and I’d build my house baby, with sorrow,
I’ll leave my shadow, to fall behind,
And I wouldn’t write to you, ’cause I’m not that kind.
Temari pulled her keys out of her pocket and unlocked the front door, balancing a bag of groceries carefully on her knee.
She soundlessly pushed the door open, slipped the ring of keys back into her pocket, then bent over and picked up the second bag of groceries on the floor. Finally she entered the house and closed the door quickly, pushing it shut with her leg - she'd come back and lock it later when her hands were free.
She walked to the kitchen, the sound of her high heels echoing through the silent house and set the bags onto the counter-top. Swiftly and methodically, she pulled each item out of the bags and set about packing them away. For a time, the only sound in the house was that of cupboard doors opening and shutting, again and again and again.
Eventually, everything was packed away and then Temari lifted each brown bag, folded it up and stored them inside a little cupboard next to the refrigerator. She straightened up and looked around her quaint, little kitchen, subconsciously following the shadows residing in the corners of the room.
It was sunset and the room should have been infused with the last of the day's sunlight but instead it appeared too dark to her and she found herself unwittingly mired in gloom. Sighing exasperatedly, she muttered, "I really need to get a radio - it's too quiet here," as she moved from the black and white kitchen to the living room.
The sun didn't face this room so it appeared even darker than the other one had - Temari knew she should turn on the lights but she didn't feel to, not right now. Sighing again, she dropped herself into the comfortable armchair, leaned back and fixed her eyes on a point somewhere against the wall.
The silence set in around her as she stared straight ahead, willing herself not to think because he always seemed to worm his way into her thoughts and now was not the time to begin entertaining regrets - after all, she had so many of them already.
So she sat and stared and did not think as the day slowly became night and the shadows in the room steadily took precedence over everything else -
...and the silence set in.
...and the silence set in.
