Sango’s grip on the wooden fence tightened as she watched the scene before her with suspicious eyes. Either she had hit Miroku one too many times in the head with her hiraikotsu, or something was seriously wrong. And at the moment, it was too difficult to tell.

The houshi was happily helping Kaede and Rin pick and sort herbs in her garden. It was something houshi never did, especially not her houshi. No, he was more likely to be seen distracting the village women with his “palm readings.” She snorted softly at that thought -- palm readings, her foot! Not even marriage had calmed down his naturally charming ways.

Yet she could find nothing wrong with the strange scene. Without paying attention to where she was going, she pondered over what was wrong about it. Some little warning bells in her head were going off about it along with something about what today was.

Probably something strange Kagome had once said about one of her customs.

Then it clicked in her mind! Miroku wasn’t supposed to be in the village until later! Shippou had to be up to his usual tricks again, as he had been ever since Kagome left. She turned around and grabbed the nearest object, which just so happened to be a small piece of wood, and headed back to Kaede’s hut.

A good, hard blow was the only way to get a kitsune to drop their illusion, after all.

Her eyes narrowed as she saw the innocent looking houshi head down the street towards her. Oh, she’d teach Shippou a lesson about causing her stress with his illusions.

“My dearest Sango, it’s so good to see you looking so well today,” his smiled charmingly at her, and she brought the piece of wood down on his head.

Sango’s eyes widened in shock when the Miroku she bopped on the head didn’t transform back into the mischievous Shippou. “Sango, I think you’ve been out in the sun too long in your condition.”

“But, but,” she sighed and shook her head, perhaps she really had been out in the sun too long. “Never mind, I think you’re probably right, houshi-sama.”

Shippou snickered from his hiding place behind the nearby hut, “Tricked! Or at least I think that’s what Kagome said to do today…”
