I know I was hoping to have many chapters to my fanfics posted yesterday, but then I decided it would be better to make sure everything's done. Also, I found my old notebook which had all of my original notes for Of Retribution and Passion, Darkening Haze, and the original order for the last twenty prompts for Tales of the Night. Which has sent me reworking quite a few of the chapters to ORaP (both the first six ones and the last nine ones), and I've had to do the same for DH's newly written chapters. As for TotN's last twenty chapters... I am not really amused. Yes, as I suspected I didn't get those prompts in the correct order. And yes, I'm tempted to throw out those last twenty chapters and rewrite them though I am doing my best to block the urge, no matter how much I hate those chapters. Instead, I'm throwing up my hands and saying: "I'll deal with that can o'worms after the new year."
So updates will be a little late in coming. For a couple of big reasons. The first being that I'm waiting to see if the power will be lost within the next twenty-four hours. This entire week has been freezing cold where I live, and I do mean that literally. I believe the highest temperature has been 32 degrees Fahrenheit since Monday, with the coldest being around 12 degrees Fahrenheit, possibly even closer to 10 degrees. Thankfully, there has been absolutely zero moisture in the air since Saturday -- our humidity has been in the 20's which is killer. I don't understand how people can live with such low humidity. My skin is not appreciative as not even extra moisture filled lotion has worked at all this week. But that changed a couple of hours ago -- nasty, dark foreboding clouds appeared.
Yay for moisture in the air!
Boo for freezing rain/snow/some crappy mix of it. Like last year. (Please pleasepleaseplease, don't dump two feet of snow and freezing rain ever again. Alaska, I still abhor you.)
If we lose the power, I won't be updating. As I'd rather conserve my battery on my laptop for some more important things. But on the upside, power loss shouldn't last more than a day here. Why I'm not putting up a chapter right now? My internet is already fighting me on whether it wants to work or not. Yay for five minute long connections.
The second reason being that earlier today I came across a wonderful little ad that loves to kill my computer. There are only two places I encounter this ad at, those places being: fanfiction.net and any forum I go to. It doesn't happen very often (probably once a year around this time for some reason), but it always does this thing of where it's all like: you have viruses on your computer! Let us scan it for them. To which I always freak out and go: Bullshit! My anti-virus would have let me know before killing it! So, I am quite freaked out about it even though I ran everything again and it came up clean. But... My luck with computers has never been that great. So yeah...
But I do have nearly everything knocked off my list of what I wanted to accomplish for December. All of Tutor Me is written, it just needs to be typed up and posted. I have only a few chapters left to write for Of Retribution and Passion, Darkening Haze, and Last Winter (even though the latter has fragmented into five different fics, but they're all short unrelated holiday one-shots). The Hiei/Sango pairing series won't be written until closer to Christmas as it's going to be so easy to do. Beyond the Dream is not going to be written until after Christmas as it is not even close to being a priority at the moment, the same goes for the editing of Oscillating Intention. The two Dark Hunter/Inuyasha crossovers are almost done -- I only have the last two chapters to write for them. Both are only five chapters long, but have around/a little over 5,000 words per chapter -- so they'll be around novella length. I had a lot of fun writing them, and because I am a little behind in getting them posted, I have a snippet from the very first chapter.

Title: Darkling Winter; Chapter One: The Dark Horse
Pairing: Talon (Speirr of the Morrigantes)/Higurashi Kagome
Rating: R (for story); PG-13 (for this snippet)
Summary: (For story) Four years after her quest ended, and still filled with a strong desire for adventure, Kagome heads to New Orleans. Only to find herself way in over her head.
...Talon was quite possibly the only human she knew who could give Sesshoumaru a run for his money.
And yet, she would always tell herself that she had seen better every time she served him even when her racing heart and attracted body were saying differently. Honestly, she was a single young woman in her twenties: she could look, flirt and fantasize about him all she wanted without an ounce of guilt.
After all, they didn't have that type of man back in Japan.
The downside to such a foreign man: notorious one-nighter. Mama would be so displeased with her if something like that ever happened. As if that wasn't bad enough, she had a feeling he wasn't exactly human. He wasn't youkai, she knew that much. She couldn't figure out just what he was though. Sometimes, if she concentrated hard enough, it felt as if he had no soul. And she knew he wasn't stealing souls like Kikyou had.
But there were others who were soul-stealing in the dark of the night. Perhaps they weren't exactly stealing souls, but it was close enough for her to be on alert. Especially since they had been coming after her for her large soul. Or maybe they had hissed out "power". Her English still wasn't perfect, even after a year.
It led to her spending many of her nights wandering down dark alleys near her home, hunting down the creatures who had come too close for her comfort. They had horrible curses on them, she could feel that much, but that was not entirely what drive them to what they were and what they were doing. She could not call them kyuuketsuki, youkai or oni. She could hardly call them akumei.
Perhaps she would leave it at ningen, given that she knew no English words to describe them.
A cold chill brushed across her back, causing her to shiver and the hair on the back of her neck to stand on end. This always happened when one was near, though never to this degree...
To be continued.
And please, don't be afraid or anything to make a gift-fic/gift-poetry request
at this post. I'm fairly certain my computer won't be killed, nor do I expect to be gone for more than a day if the power is lost, so your request will definitely be filled by Christmas.
And hello there~, new friends.
