Well, a ticket to Moscow is about $300. One way. That is $600 to go there and back. I guess I'll have to borrow... Return tickets are available on December 29th and January 4th. The first date is too early ($600 just to go there and right back?!) and the other is too late... The good news is that I have a free place to stay - my mom's college friend has invited me to stay with them. Hotels are really expensive (I'm not spending that much on a ticket to a place where I'll have to stay in a crappy hotel!).
To be brutally honest, I'm mostly interested in shopping (see my bio). So if I go over the holidays, many stores will be closed. Another equally important reason (I'm not ALL about shopping) is to meet the people - I have friends, relatives, particularly my lovely little cousin, ex-boyfriends, college friends who live there, it would be so exciting to meet them. So I've been calling my dad to ask if he has any cash I can borrow and pay him back next year. Or that could be my early Christmas present... (Dream on!)
As for the dance studio, I've come to a decision that it would be ok to start with a simple school gym. Those are cheaper, they are spacious, they have mats and other equipment that might be useful for dance training. I refused to accept that idea earlier because they have bad floors (they play basketball and run there, what do you expect?) and they don't have mirrors. But for start, it's OK. I'll just need to start teaching, make sure I can do that and people want to come to my classes, and once I have that type of support, I can try to search for a better studio. By that time, I'll have a name and experience, so it might be easier that way.
I mean, it's naive of me to start with a perfect dance studio. We can start with the bare minimum.
And, as usually, I'm so sick of my job. Today someone (I think the Big Boss again) smoked cigars! First I thought they were smoking pot there :)) Anyway, the idea of my clothes absorbing that terrible cigar smell is excruciating. Hopefully someday I can quit it and do something more enjoyable.
There are some maps that I made and they were used on the International Oil & Gas Conference in London, like this super special event, and our top management has a problem with it. Now I have to add a disclaimer line to my maps, stating that they can only be used within the company. That's a little sad for me, I understand the information security issues, but that means that with that regualtion, there's little possibility of some cool internationally-important person spotting my map and saying: "Oh, this map is beautiful! Who's this talented girl who made it? She's a real artist! I think I have an exciting job for her - travelling and being creative and making lots of money! Oh, there's her name. Let's contact her!"
:)
I never lose hope though!
