Changes to eligibility
Eligibility is largely the same as last year (see the eligibility tag on this community), with some specific changes and clarifications:
- Anthology fandoms - This includes TV shows like Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, short story collections, visual artists' bodies of work, etc, where individual parts of the canon don't actually share a narrative or universe. Please nominate separate instalments separately, even if that doesn't match the canonical tag on AO3.
- RPF restrictions - We will not accept nominations of historical and present figures who were alive after 1900 and whose celebrity status comes from acts of evil, including serial killers and Nazis.
Separately, we will not accept Donald Trump as an RPF nomination. - UPDATED BELOW, thanks to discussion - RPF restrictions - We will not accept nominations of the following categories of people alive after 1900:
- serial killers
- Nazis (here defined as people whose historical identity is fundamentally based in their willing participation in the regime).
Separately, we will not accept Donald Trump.
These characters may also not be nominated in documentaries, memoirs, or other treatments that aim for a broadly truthful rather than fictional depiction. - As usual, a canon must be released before sign-ups end to be accepted as a nomination. In 2019 that date is November 4.
