Update On Comments
Update from OD about comments:
After some investigation it looks like we might be able to import comments as well. These comments would be imported as anonymous comments on the imported work. If a commenter would like their comment removed after the import, please contact Open Doors with a link to the work, the content of the comment, and a brief explanation. Please note that if a comment is deleted, we will provide the creator with a copy of the comment for their reference.
As our merge tool is still in development, we cannot delete imported duplicates without deleting the imported comments. For creators that have already uploaded a copy of their work to the AO3, we recommend including a link to the preferred copy in the work Notes to redirect viewers while waiting for the merge tool. For creators that would still like to delete the imported duplicate, we can provide an HTML copy of the Yuletide comments page for their work.
As of April 2, we are still discussing the issue of manually copying and pasting comments onto an imported work, but will update this post when the decision has been made.
Note that the post referred to in the last line is the official announcement posts, where this has been added. Any new information will also be posted here.
