Signups Open!
Thousands of fandoms were nominated and reviewed, hundreds of comments were made, and now we are thrilled to announce that Yuletide 2013 is now open for signups!
You can find signups for Yuletide 2013 here. Signups will remain open until Monday, 14th October, 06:00PM EDT (What time is that for me? And here is a countdown). You can continue to edit your signup up until that time.
The screencasts walking you through signup are available here. These are not specifically for Yuletide, so some of the details of the form look different (eg no relationship tags).
When you input a fandom name, all characters available for that fandom should come up in the autofill. If a character listed on the tag set does not come up under the appropriate fandom, you can copy & paste it from the tag set to make sure it's input correctly.
Please remember that for requests, the character matching is AND, not OR. You will match on every character you request.For example, if you request characters A, B, C, & D then you'll only match to someone offering ALL of those (or "Any"), but not to anyone who offers only one or two or three of characters, for instance, A and C.
However, for offers it is OR. if you offer characters A, B, C, & D you can be matched to someone requesting any combination of A, B, C, & D (or to people who didn’t select a character). For example, you could match A, B, C, D or "0" chars, or someone requesting any subset: A, B, or A, B, D, or A, D, etc.
REQUESTS
You can make 4-6 requests, all in distinct/different fandoms. Please try to vary your characters/prompts, even if they appear in multiple fandoms.
You can request 0 characters in a fandom, but this means you can be matched with either to someone who offered "Any" nominated characters or someone who offered specific characters, so be sure you'll be happy with stories about any of the nominated characters. You cannot request 0 characters and then use your optional details to ask instead for characters who were not nominated.
There will be a post soon specifically about Optional Details (hint, they are optional).
OFFERS
You can make 5-10 offers with 2-8 specific characters. It will look like you can add more offers, but don't try to submit with more than ten or else it won't work! However, if you go in to edit and delete one of your offers, you'll then be able to add another for a total of ten.
If you want to offer a fandom that has 0-1 characters available, tick the "Any" box instead of specifying characters (or add it to a bucket list).
If you have multiple fandoms in which you want to offer to write "Any" nominated characters, you can do nine specific offers, and make the tenth fandom a "Bucket List".

The list of requested/offered fandoms will be available after five people have signed up.
FANDOM SPECIFIC NOTES
If you are planning to offer/request Revenge (TV):
This year the character listing for Revenge just has "Emily Thorne" and "Amanda Clarke", causing potential confusion, because the present-day Emily was born Amanda Clarke, and the present-day Amanda was born Emily Thorne.
For purposes of consistency, and going by what the fandom convention seems to be (and how IMDB defines it):
"Emily Thorne" will mean the present-day Emily, played by actress Emily VanCamp, the woman working for her revenge.
"Amanda Clarke" will mean the present-day Amanda, played by actress Margarita Levieva, who swapped identities with Emily.
We have combined the tags for Irene Adler | Moriarty in Elementary (tv) because we see the arguments against three tags. If you are offering or requesting this character, please take into account that people will be using the tag for both aspects of the character.
Following further discussion, Clone Gwen Stacy has been added to the fandom Ultimate Comics Spider-Man. We will open further discussion about comics issues after this Yuletide is over, so that we can try and make things work better for everyone next year. Thanks so much for everyone’s input.
Tir Tanagiri & The King's Name have been merged as these are books are a series and the nommed characters overlap.
#yuletide RPF: only the people who have opted in (listed in the tag set) can be used as characters. If you are writing for this fandom remember to check the spreadsheet for the maximum ratings for any people you are writing about.
