Invites for Accounts at the Archive of Our Own

Oct 27, 2010 08:50

Work is still ongoing on tag wrangling and coding for sign-ups for Yuletide 2010! More news forthcoming as it becomes available.

However, you will need an account at the Archive of Our Own (AO3) in order to sign-up. If you don't already have an account, you can get an invitation either by emailing me at yuletide@yuletidetreasure.org or by signing ( Read more... )

I always meant to ask this and never got around to, really sorry if this was already answered elsewhere. This is a shared journal and we also signed up for an AO3 account together, making use of the pseud system to create two sub-accounts, so to speak. Can we both sign up for Yuletide as "pseud1 (username)" and "pseud2 (username)" or will that be a problem? *makes big eyes*

It's one sign-up per AO3 account, so you could sign up together, and write/get a single story, but if you want to sign up individually, you'll need separate accounts. Otherwise, when you tried to sign up with a second pseud, it would just give you the first signup to edit.

Hey, franziska had a thought: You'd still need two accounts to sign up independently, but then, after the author reveal, you could put the pseud from your primary AO3 account on the 2nd account's story as a co-author (and even remove the 2nd account, if you want). Does that make sense?

(You were faster than me, I was just thinking out loud the following:)

"Oh, good thing I asked. /o\ That makes sense.

Okay, hypothetical scenario: I create another account just for Yuletide, get the assignment, write a story, add my actual mumblemutter pseud as a co-author for my story and, after author reveal and everything, delete the Yuletide account as an author. The story now belongs to the mumblemutter account, but is still part of the Yuletide collection. Yes? Would this fuck with anything going on in the background?

As for my gift (whee, gift!) I could maybe contact the author after reveal and everything and be like (after profuse expressions of gratitude), 'could you maybe change the recipient to my actual account, I can explain!' Would that fuck with anything?"

So! You're right though, I'd have to add the other pseud *after* reveal, otherwise it's just confusing. And sorry for making this difficult, I didn't think I'd ever have the guts to sign up for Yuletide when we created the account. But now I'm thinking maybe yes.

The first case is what we were thinking -- as long as it's done after the reveal, there shouldn't be any problem. As for the second, that's up to you and the author, I'd think. It won't mess anything up on the admin side of things!

It's amazing what Yuletide can do even to the most unlikely of us. I was monofannish until my first YT, and I didn't even sign up!

(maybe you could do mumblemutter1 and mumblemutter2, like Thing 1 and Thing 2....)

Okay, thank you for the confirmation! It occurred to me that I could just put a FYI in my Dear Author letter which would get rid of some of the post-reveal awkwardness at least. \o/

(Heeee! Too bad I already created the account, this might have been neat. But all set now, whee!)
