BETA BETA BETA

Nov 12, 2009 21:56

One of the funnest parts of Yuletide can be getting matched on that one fandom you love that none of your friends are familiar with, so you might find yourself in need of a different beta than usual! Or they tell me this is one of the funnest parts, anyway ;)

This post will serve as a place-holder for anyone interested in offering beta services. ( Read more... )

Technical beta for anything, and fandom-specific for: any Disney movie, Bible - New Testament, Chicago (2002), Chobits, Diana Wynne Jones - A Tale of Time City, Diana Wynne Jones - Chronicles of Chrestomanci, Diana Wynne Jones - Homeward Bounders, Diane Duane - Young Wizards series, Douglas Adams - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series (except new book!), Juno, K A Applegate - Animorphs series, Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl (manga only), Professor Layton series (game), or Terry Pratchett - Discworld.

Contact via PM (make sure yours are turned on too, please), email (rhap_chan(@)livejournal(.)com), a return comment here, or a comment in my friends-only post. I generally can turn around a story of any length less than 5000 words in under a week-- generally, far under a week, but just in case I get busy.

I can beta grammar and story flow for anything.

As for specific fandoms, there are too many to list, but not so much with anime and foreign language. I do really well with films, as I've seen quite a lot of the ones being offered- book fandoms are a little more difficult, but I'll give it a go. TV is like the devil and I really don't want to admit how many of the television shows I've watched.

My list of fics that I've written [with all the various fandoms I've written in] can be found on attiandherfics. You can PM me, or email me over at atticusfinch over at gmail. I'm usually very prompt with email.

I'm a very wordy beta [not harsh, just wordy], so if you're looking for that sort of thing, feel free to hit me up!

Wow, this is sort of creepy, but we have very similar interests. I didn't even notice Gattaca was on the list! (*berates self for missing that*)

I can do fandom-specific betas for nearly all video game and manga fandoms. (It's a pretty extensive list so just ask me if you're curious whether I'm familiar with a specific one.) Also, Castle, Burn Notice, Lost in Translation, The Interpreter and Brent Weeks - Night Angel Trilogy are among the other fandoms that I feel very comfortable with. In addition to making sure the canon details are kosher, I'm also a grammar nazi and am pretty good at analyzing settings and making sure everything fits properly into cultural/situational context - especially if your story is set in Japan, The Netherlands, or Germany, as I've lived there. I've never heard of anyone needing help with Japanese or Dutch before, but if you do, I can definitely help.

Send your story to pyrefly@livejournal.com; as long as it's not the first week of December (when all my projects are due), I should have a pretty quick turn-around time. You should also probably poke me in Yulechat or on AIM at Pyreflytears to let me know you're sending me a story and give me some ( ... )
