I have now made it through the archive. I commented as much as I could but I'm afraid my brain has shut down. I'll have to go back and re-read a few things, I'm sure.
Anyhow, here is the second half of my recs: M-V.
Fandoms: Monica Furlong - Wise Child, Mythology - Egyptian, Mythology - Norse, Neil Gaiman - Neverwhere, Pretty in Pink, Princess Bride, Royal Tenenbaums, Sandman (comics), Stardust (movie), Susan Cooper - Dark is Rising, Tamora Pierce - Circle of Magic, Tamora Pierce - Tortall, Venture Brothers
- Wise Child:
Highway Lessons - G, Euny backstory and wonderful extra tidbits about dorans.
- Mythology - Egyptian:
A House Well Built - G, I can't say too much but I have a fondness for scribes.
The Path of Kham-Sin - PG, an argument between Set and Nepthys.
- Mythology - Norse:
A Place for Cleverness - PG13, interesting look into Loki's relationship with Odin and how he came to Asgard.
Not the Same World (Where the Gods Are Concerned) - PG, mysterious and cold story about Loki telling a tale.
There's No Rainbow Bridge Across the Generation Gap - PG13, a modern Ragnarok, complete with plastic surgery and internet hook-ups.
Loki and the Dawn - PG, a meeting between Loki and Odin with fantastic wordplay.
- Neil Gaiman - Neverwhere:
In the shadow of Southwark Bridge - G, nicely donebackground for a certain character with cameos from what I suspect are two of my favorite assassins.
The Invisible City; or, Dick Mayhew and his Marvellous Cat - PG13, creepy and rich and full of history and cleverness.
Mad Lord Time - PG, fun adventure in New York Below, complete with pirates.
Last Dances - PG13, Hunter and the beasts she's slain told in dreams.
Utterly Professional - PG13, fantastic Croup and Vandemar origin story, told in reverse chronology.
- Pretty in Pink:
Two Conversations in One Day is Still Probably Too Many - PG13, a perfect Duckie and a fucked up Steff just prior to prom.
Tenderness - PG, fixing the whole ending of the movie in the sweetest way.
- Princess Bride:
True Love - PG, quick and fun look at events before the movie.
- Royal Tanenbaums:
Second Grace - G, Margot and Richie, secretly in love (canon semi-incestual relationship warning).
- Sandman (comics):
Fiddler's Went A'Courtin' - PG, Fiddler's Green courts Rose in a dignified manner, but I rec this especially for the Behind the Attic Wall reference, which is so utterly apt and perfect.
Carve His Oddly Familiar Path - PG, Daniel is Dream, settling into responsibility.
A Difficult Habit - G, a fun Hob in the future fic.
Sunlight Through Birch Leaves - PG, memory and the lack thereof, plus Lucien looking for his memories in books. I love fictional librarians so much.
- Stardust (movie):
The Dream is the Reality - PG, a trip through the wall in the other direction gives Captain Shakespeare some background.
Sightseeing - PG, a little more of the story, with a troll and a wedding planner and some sweetly told bumps along the way.
- Susan Cooper - Dark is Rising:
Of Smoke and Gold and Breathing - PG, achingly lovely look at Will and Bran and Jane in two worlds.
Only Revolutions - G, Jane tries to remember without realizing she's trying.
This is the Night - G, an adventure set on the Isle of Man with mythology and family.
The Ascent - PG, much recced and worth it. A sculpture of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse triggers things. I can never resist the Horsemen in any form.
Outside Time - PG, bittersweet tale of Will and Bran and Jane.
- Tamora Pierce - Circle of Magic:
Molten Metal and Miniature Trees - PG, Daja recovering from Rizu and Briar there to support her, whether she wants it or not.
- Tamora Pierce - Tortall:
String Theory - G, Aly checks on a possible problem. Cute and fun.
How Squire Alan Learned the Noble Art of Pranking - G, Gary and Alan(na) play a little prank.
Letters from Rajmuat - G, a cute series of translated coded missives from Aly to her father.
Impatience - R, Jonathan/George set up quite nicely indeed.
Knight-Mistress - G, Kel chooses a squire, cute and cuter still if you've read Terrier.
Hope in the Darkness - PG, Alanna wants a quiet wedding but that's not going to happen.
Before - PG13, Liam/George done amazingly in character, pre-Alanna and full of wonderful tidbits of history I desperately want more of.
- Venture Brothers:
Leggy, and a Smooth Finish - PG13, Queen Etheria thinks Chardonnay tastes like cat pee. And her boyfriend doesn't.
South American Idle - PG, spot on voices for the boys, Rusty and Brock as they head off on a little jaunt.
