I don't think it's revealing too much to say we already have RPF - historical noms from the pull-down, so I'd just go ahead and use that, and then add characters, if you need to.

Previously, fairy tales were listed under "Fairy Tales," with the individual stories listed as characters.

Do you think it would work this year to keep the "Fairy Tales" heading, but list individual characters (i.e. Little Mermaid, Prince (Little Mermaid), Wicked Queen (Snow White), Briar Rose/Sleeping Beauty, etc)?

(I'm dying to ask you to weigh in on an individual fandom's "obscurity," but I think that would be inappropriate. ;) Anyway, nominations ready to go! *rubs hands together*)

Thank you -- I'm reluctant to start responding to that at this point, given that it would take all my time. *g*

You can certainly submit that way, if you know you're only wanting a specific tale. It's possible that we'll end up consolidating (I don't know this, I'm just speculating), depending on what else is submitted. Or you can simply choose the heading as it stands, knowing that when it comes time to request fandoms, you can specify which characters you want.

Well, the individual characters I want are already there, because I put them in last year. It's just that the way it's set up is a little confusing, so it seems to me that it might be worth changing. *shrug* I'll suggest it again once we start the clean-up, and see what people think. ^^

Is it ok to nominate a tv fandom that hasn't even started airing officially? :D (There's a *koff*leakedpilotepisode*koff* available for those who know what they're looking for, with enough character stuff to allow for fic.)

(OMT Yuletide!)

I... suppose so? We had Brokeback submitted last year when the movie hadn't yet come out, as (book or movie), so why not? *g*

Yay! Traveler is so going on the list then. :D (And I fervently hope I'm not jinxing it and it will actually be picked for a full season...)

Oh, I'd forgotten about that! Do you know when it does premiere? If it's not premiering until next spring, it may be unlikely you'd get a match on that. *g*

Do you have a 2006 schedule set yet?

I haven't yet tackled the FAQ for edits yet, though it's on my list! The calendar is basically as I think I rambled earlier: A week for nominations, a week for clean-up, with the aim of opening sign-up no later than November 1st, same as last year -- although hopefully a bit earlier! The story submission deadlines should stay roughly the same as last year.

Rosemary Sutcliff wrote a collection of loosely connected historical novels - same continuity, different centuries, basically. The most well-known of these is already on the list (The Eagle of the Ninth). Sometimes people call the entire series by this title (Or by names - it doesn't seem to have a "correct" collective name), but the previous fanfic stories I've seen have all been from that particular book.

I want slash from one of the other books. :( Do I add that book to the list, or select the one that's already listed and add the characters I want, or make up a new entry for the whole series, or ... what? Do whatever, and then ask for a correction later?

(There's at least one more series I'm thinking about requesting that's in that situation - Pat Wrede's "The Raven Ring" is sixth in the Lyra series but listed all by itself. And doesn't share many characters with the others.)

With the first, I'd go ahead and pick the existing entry, since you say that often the whole series is called by that title, because other people may be more likely to do the same, and add the characters you want. We can edit it to add "series" during the correction period, if you remind us, and if you notice that someone else has submitted a related title, let us know that later, as well (that will be sometime next week).

With the other, I might be tempted to add a new entry for the whole series, since the one that's listed isn't the first book. Then keep an eye out later to see if someone lists one of the other books, if we don't catch it.
