beta offer spreadsheet

Hello, Yuletide community! I come bearing an unofficial form and spreadsheet for offering beta services and finding people.

Edit: feel free to use this post to say "gosh, I could really use a beta in X, Y, and Z!" This really can work, and it's no trouble at all.

Here's the sign-up form. Here's the beta offer spreadsheet. You can sign up to beta ( Read more... )

PS: the signup summary seems to be broken at the moment; should I report this or is it already known?

Not sure. A bug report might be handy.

Thank you for doing this!

A small suggestion: it might be useful to link the tag set as well?

You're right, which is why the tag set is the first bullet point. =>

I will investigate bug reporting. Thanks!

Oh, I see. Sorry! I went about it the wrong way - I thought "I'd better get my beta offers in order before I click the form..."

Not a problem!

The ones that say for ANY fandom, I'm assuming that means even fandoms we're not familiar with? I'm just having difficulty with the wording. Sorry!

Yes, exactly! The idea is that your beta would be about those elements only and not about canon-compatibility.

I am in need of a cat person, being a dog person. Please indicate these powers in the spreadsheet. :) Thanks!

If all you want is advice about how cats behave I suggest you lurk and/or ask at the kittypix community:

http://kittypix.livejournal.com/

There are lots of lovely pictures there and also quite a number of the community members are involved with cat rescue organisations and also trap-neuter-release programmes so they are very knowledgeable about felines.

Thank you. It is more cat-picking. Cattitude, perhaps.
Some of us are not on the wavelength. Even without yuletide, I would not admit this with a name attached.

Well, at least one person offered cats as an area of expertise when they saw this comment, so I hope you're set! But by all means, cat people (and other animal people--horses, rodents, reptiles, etc.) chime in, do.

Could you please do a "wrap text" on the spreadsheet? I'm having trouble reading long entries (since I can't resize the columns). Thank you for doing this!

I keep telling it wrap (and to top-align) and it keeps not preserving it for the new entries! I'm sorry. I have to run to kid things for a few hours so I can't update the indexes now, but I've told it to wrap & top-align the existing entries and also widened the columns on the main sheet. More later.

Have you tried highlighting the whole spreadsheet and applying those changes? If you did, then it could be that the automatic entries fed in by Google are messing things up.

Don't worry about it!

Yes and yes. I hope widening the columns helps instead! Thanks for the feedback, i want this to be useful.

Hello there! There's probably no way to edit my sign-up after I've submitted it, is there? I came up with two other fields of "expertise" that might be helpful to writers that I could contribute, but I'm not sure how to go about it at this point.

If you still have the success page open there'll be a link to edit, or you can email me with the changes: knepveu@steelypips.org !
