So, this year I'll probably nominate Max Gladstone's "Craft Sequence", although I haven't decided which characters yet (suggestions welcomed!).
But my more difficult question surrounds my usual Cherryh fandoms; the rules this year might suggest that the frequent "Allience/Union" fandom ought to be split into "Cyteen/Regenesis" and some combination of possible fandoms for the other books (since there's not much continuity of character between any of them much!). Don't know. Any helpful brain storming accepted :-).

I was thinking of nominating, as last year, the Raven King and his posse: John Uskglass | The Raven King Catherine of Winchester William of Lanchester Thomas of Dundale
Vorkosigan SagalannamichaelsAugust 31 2014, 00:28:03 UTC
Since it seems like Vorkosigan will be returning to eligibility this year, I'd love to brainstorm about noms. I'm not sure who I'll nominate, although I've been thinking about Piotr and Olivia.
Someone emailed it to me last year literally an hour after nominations closed, and I've been wanting fic ever since. Warning, even though it's just a historic piece of technology, it's creepy as ****!
Out of curiosity, why do you find the Writer creepy? I watched that video and another one on the Jacques-Broz automata (the Writer has a brother, the Draughtsman, and a sister, the Musician) and I was amazed, both by the amount of work put into creating the automata and the fact that they still work brilliantly hundreds of years later.
As to why it's creepy? Maybe the background music doesn't help? And I keep having visions of the Writer suddenly starting to write whatever he wants. Or of his creator wanting a "real boy." :) I'd say that it was just me, but I've shown the video to a couple other people who had the same reaction.
