60 Miles an Hour is a music video by New Order. It stars a scientist who drives a junky truck and wears a bear suit to do immersive research in the forest. He picks up a hitchhiker. There are some misunderstandings with a park ranger. It stars Rick Warden, who you might know as Harry Welsh from Band of Brothers.
I super want to know more about pretty much everyone and everything in this video, and it's fun. So if you like fun things, hit it!
* Miniatur Wunderland is a model train exhibit in Hamburg, Germany. It's already something like 20 acres and it won't be done until 2020. It's fascinating to me. Who builds these things? Who thinks them up? What happens in the models at night? What do the tourists experience? Why is the narrator of the video so smarmily excited?
There are also tons more videos about the place, so the canon is kind of endless. I'm just. Totally taken with the whole thing.
Guns For Hire (Movie Concept) is a gifset of a fake noir film starring Lucy Liu and Gina Torres as a detective and femme fatale who probably have quick-fire banter and fantastic sex. There's no plot to speak of and all details are up to the writer, so it would be perfect for anyone who wants to write all the femslashy noir tropes.
Isabella and the Pot of Basil, which is a painting by the Pre-Raphaelite artist, William Holman Hunt. The story goes that Isabella's lover, Lorenzo, was killed by her brothers, and Isabella, distraught, cut off his head and put in pot of basil. As you can no doubt see, severed heads and the tears of maidens are apparently very good for basil plants.
There's other paintings of this subject, but I'm particularly fond of this one, mostly because of the richness of her surroundings and because Isabella's face is supposed to be based on Holman Hunt's dead wife, which just adds another layer of creepy tragedy.
The Highwayman is a song sung by (alternatively) Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. It's about reencarnation, death, rebirth, and of course, highway robbery and the consequences thereof.
