Childlike Perceptions

my eyes are no stranger
to this path
i've seen its quartz
and its cracks
somewhere before

I recognize this
contortionist tree
with its knobs,
its mangled limbs
beckoning me

my ears strain in attempt
to hear the stream
gurgling, bubbling
no beginning,
endless in seam

two decades or more
been wandering along
only to find
i've not a clue
what the journey was for
