“Mama, where did papa go?” The little girl about 5 asked as she held onto her cream teddy bear tightly, “When is he going come home? I missed him.”
“He’s working his hardest to accomplish his dream.” The young mother around 30 smiles as she begins setting out the dishes, “Don’t you think we should cheer him on?”
“I guess.” The little girl pouted, “But I really want to see him.”
“He’ll be back soon.” The mother laughs and set a dish onto the table, “Instead of being sad about that, how about we celebrate?”
“Celebrate?” asked the girl. Her childish heart quickly forgets her papa, only the word celebration dance around her mind. Usually when there’s a celebration it always means cake.
“Yes!” Her mother stick out her chest, “You know what? Mama caught the head of a band of bad people the other day, so mama is getting a promotion.”
“A promotion?” The girl smile at the grown up word, though not entirely understand it, “Does it means we can have cake everyday from now on?”
“No no,” Her mother laughs as she patted her head, “Too much cake is bad for you.” Hearing this, the girl’s face drooped in disappointment. Her mother quickly goes to the fridge and pulled out a big box. “But today is an exception. I bought your favorite strawberry shortcake.”
“Really?” The little girls smiles as she jump up and down in excitement. She quickly takes a seat at the table, not forgetting to put the teddy bear in the seat next to her. Her mother only laughs and begins to take out the cake.
Suddenly, the sound of screeching tires of a car startled the mother and child as they turn to the direction of the sound.
*BANG*
Another crash, the sound of the window shattered and glasses are thrown every direction. The sun shines on them, making them looks like sparkling raindrops. Dropping everything from her hand, the mother rushed to the little girl’s side and pushed the child down. She hold on to her child tightly, afraid of letting her go. The sound of the car quickly sped away and the mother finally released her grip on the little girl, taking her last breath with it.
Despites getting hurt by the fall, the little girl didn’t cry due to the shock from what just happened. The uneasiness silence grew over the little girl as she slowly open her eyes.
“Mama?” The little girl asked as she hugs her mother, feeling something wet on her hand, she brings her little hand toward her face. Drops of red liquid still warm on her little fingers, like the red finger paint that she always use to paint. But, it wasn’t paint, it was something else. The feeling of fear inside her stomach quickly grew.
“Mama.” The little girl tried to get up, but unable to due to the weight of her mother. Using all her strength, she pushed her mother’s life-less body always and sits up. For the first time seeing the room ever since the incident, her mother’s blood is now flowing out as it stained the white carpet. Shattered glassed are scattered on the ground next to them. Her teddy bear that she had loved so much is laying there next to them, also stained with her mother’s blood. The little girl became scared, she quickly turn to her mother and try to shakes her.
“Mama.” She called, “Mama, mama!” She called again and again, the idea of never see her mother again never once crossed her mind.
“Why won’t you wake up? Mama?” She finally drops her head down and cries on her mother’s chest.
“MAMAYU!”
The voice causes the girl’s head to shot up, now a grown girl of 15. She looks to the owner of the voice as he stood his ground in front of her. His arms held high, trying to protect her from harm. In an instant, blood splattered everywhere, some on to her face as she pulls away. She opens her eyes and stares in horror as the boy’s body slowly fall to the ground next to her, dead.
…
Fukuda flutters her eyelashes and slowly open her eyes. Her visions gradually clear as she stares at the white ceiling. Next to her, two boys are arguing.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Kamiki said as he tries to get the white keitai from Yamada’s hand.
“It was her fault.” Yamada, now in normal clothes, pushed Kamiki away, “I just want to delete that picture, that’s all.” He pushed a few button, but the message popped up caused the boy’s eyebrow to knit together.
“I put a password on the picture.” Fukuda smiles as she tried to tilt her head toward the boys. Her voice startles them.
“Fukuda-san!” Kamiki exclaims as the girl tried to sit up, “We were so worried. The doctor told us you fainted due to exhaustion from lack of sleep.”
“You’re back to calling me ‘Fukuda-san’ again.” Fukuda pouted as Kamiki blushed.
“What’s the password?” Yamada asked with only one goal in his mind.
“What indeed.” Fukuda gave the boy a smile and raise her hand toward him asking for her keitai back. Knowing that she won’t let him erase the picture so easily, Yamada reluctantly returns her keitai. With the keitai in her hand, she looks around the room for the first time.
“You’re in the hospital, obviously.” Yamada replied before she could ask anything, still sore about the picture incident, “Miura-sempai left to call your guardian.”
“What time is it?” Fukuda asked.
“Around 10 o’clock.” Kamiki answered.
Fukuda nodded and flings the covers up, “I think I’m fine now. I can leave.”
“No, wait!” Kamiki tried to stop her, “At least wait until your guardian come first.”
“I’m fine.” She said, but Kamiki’s insistence caused her to lie back to the bed. Feeling awkward, she stares at one of the boy to the other, not sure what to say. Kamiki’s worried eyes gazes at her, while Yamada takes a seat on one of the chair. It was her first time having the boys look at her in this position, she can’t help but feel a bit shy.
“So… What happened to Sakuraba-sempai and Irie-san?” Fukuda asked, trying to break the awkward silence. The boys turn to each other and back at her.
“They were forgiven.” Yamada replied.
“Why?” Fukuda shot up, “It was obviously a murder attempt, or at least an attack. She can’t be forgiven that easily.”
“It’s not like anyone was really hurt.” Kamiki explain, “Eita-sensei fainted because he’s afraid of blood. Both Eita-sensei and Horikita-sensei only got scratches. Miura-sempai explained to them that it’s because she was looking over the railings and accidentally knocked one of the pot down to the ground. So it’s just an accident.”
“What about when she tried to attack me?” Fukuda asked.
“It was just a mechanical pencil.” Yamada shrugs, “Nobody really got hurt, so it’s fine. Just let it go.”
“Miura-sempai said it was partially his fault.” Kamiki nodded, “So if Sakuraba-sempai is to be punish, he will need to take the blame as well.”
“I see…” Fukuda wonders why the guys around her are so soft.
“What’s wrong with you today?” Yamada asked causing Fukuda to turn to him in surprise. He continues, “You’d been very weird today. Well, you’re always strange, but especially for this case.”
“I’m still the same.” Fukuda gave a nervous laugh, trying hard to not meet his eyes. Before Yamada could say anything else, the loud noise from the corridor takes their attention.
“Mayu-chan!” A man in his mid 20s rushed in to the room as he was followed by a young nurse. After them, not so far away is Miura-sempai.
“Mayu-chan, are you ok?” The man quickly runs toward the bed, pushing Yamada and Kamiki away in the process, and held Fukuda’s hand tightly.
“I’m alright.” Fukuda smiles and patted his head, “Where’s Shoon-nii?”
“That guy, he’s rushing here as fast as he can.” The man smile, “I’m so glad you’re ok. If something were to happen to you, I really don’t know what to say to your mother.”
“See, she’s alright.” The young nurse behind the man, the same one that was taking care of Horikita-sensei earlier, smiles as she tried to catch her breath, “Please don’t run in the hallway next time!”
“Ah!” Realizing his mistakes, the man turned to the nurse and deeply bows, “I’m so sorry. It’s because I was so worried.” Looking around at the staring eyes, he blushed and gave them another deep bow, “I’m Tanaka Kei, Mayu-chan’s guardian, thank you for taking care of her.” Everyone in the room bow back awkwardly.
“Mayu-chan was it?” The nurse smiles, “You have a wonderful brother. I need to say my thanks for taking care of my little brother as well.” She quickly pulls Kamiki next to her and patted his head.
“Erm, this is my older sister, Satomi.” Kamiki blushed.
“No, no.” Kei shakes his head, “I should be the one to say thanks.”
“No, what are you talking about?” Satomi turns to him, “It’s because Mayu-chan and Ryo-kun was able to take care of Ryu.” With this, the two older siblings argue on and on about who deserved more thanks. It’s not until Miura clears his throat that they finally stopped. They turn to each other and laugh, causing the room to erupt into laughter.
Suddenly, the door slides open and another man in his early 20s rushed in, ignoring everyone around him and head straight to Fukuda’s bedside.
“Mayu-chan! Are you alright?” He gave her a hug.
“I’m fine.” Fukuda blushed as she returned his hug.
Noticing the curious stares of everyone in the room, he turns to them and gave them a smile, “Thank you for taking care of Mayu-chan up until now. I’m Yamashita Shoon, one of her guardian.”
The room once again burst out in laughter as the young man turns to each of the members of the room in confusion. Finally, he turns to Fukuda only to find her just laugh.

Author's Note: How about that, 3 chapters in a day. I finally finished the second arc. Lol, it's about time! XD;; How was it?
3 more new characters are introduced, but I can't help but think they won't play much an important role in this story. =___=;; This arcs turned out to be much longer than I wanted due to last minutes ideas. And I can't help but think the ending is a bit lame as well. But at least you learn a bit of Fukuda's past. Next arcs will deal with Yamada and Shida. So hopefully, I'll be writing more of Shida characters from now on.
I'm thinking of finish this story in 5 arcs, which means only 3 more arcs to go. But if it were only 5 arcs, I won't be able to deal more about the other side characters, and will mostly spending my time on my 4 mains. Hmm, need to think of more mysteries. >___<;;
