Movie Feature: Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End (2007)

I went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End on Sunday with my family and I have to say that the movie was so AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Yo-ho a pirate's life for me!!!!! Although I am biased because Johnny Depp is in it.

But still, all that CGI and the way the plot threads weaves... A lot is going on and you can expect a whole lot of double-crossing and triple-crossing in the movie. The ending leaves a few loose ends though, setting up the possibility of a 4th movie. In case you are wondering, Pirates of the Caribbean 3 links closely to the second movie, so I highly doubt that you'll be able to keep track of what is going on if you watch the 3rd movie without seeing the 2nd one.

Both Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley's acting still leaves much to be desired, but Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa were a delight to watch. Especially Johnny Depp. You cannot imagine anyone else as Captain Jack Sparrow EVER. Chow Yun-Fatt had such limited screentime as Captain Sao Feng that it was not worth all the hype, but his presence still leaves an impact. Seriously, though, putting Chow Yun-Fatt in just because you want an antagonist... Keith Richards of Rolling Stones makes a cameo appearance here as Jack Sparrow's father, and he adds to the humor of the movie.

The only thing that the movie suffered from was probably the long screentime, clocking at 160 mins. But with so many characters and so much going on, it was only appropriate that the movie would be this long... Otherwise it would have suffered the same antagonizing fate as Spider-Man 3 (okay, I admit I have this weird gudge against Spider-Man for some weird reason. I liked the movies, but I HATE Peter Parker and Mary Jane...) Recommended if you are a fan of the first 2 movies!

P.S Stay until after the credits to see an extra scene! (Unfortunately I didn't, and I only got to know about it from my friend...)

actor: johnny depp, review: movie, recommended
