Chapter 9: Opposites Attract
Jaejoong’s doe eyes widened with anticipation as he waited for YunHo, the love of his life to finish his sentence...
“Jae hyung! Jae hyung!!!”
Junsu ran towards his roommate followed closely by an amused Yoochun surprising Taemin who opened the door and YunJi who was taking orders (while charming the guests), “hyung I’m back!”
Jaejoong albeit disappointed gave a smile when he saw the younger’s sunny smile... “Hey Susu... did everything go okay with Hyuk?”
Junsu’s smile immediately dimmed and he whispered, “Let’s talk about it at home, hyung.”
The older Kim looked worriedly at the younger who was effectively faking a smile but said nothing. Yoochun quietly observed the exchange of gazes and he brushed his fingers to Junsu’s suddenly cold ones.
Junsu turned and Yoochun gave him a dimpled smile before extending a hand to Jaejoong, “Hi... I’m Park Yoochun.”
Jaejoong stared at the extended hand then at Junsu’s softened expression, “Kim Jaejoong... owner of this cafe. I’m guessing you were the guy Junsu met yesterday?”
Yoochun grinned when Jaejoong’s hand met his, “yeah... that was me. I hope I didn’t make any bad impressions with Su...”
“You call him Su?”
Junsu blushed and Yoochun grinned wider, “he also calls me Chunnie.”
Jaejoong’s eyes narrowed a little and a sly smirk was on his face, “ohoho... so you two are at that level already? I was right then Su?”
The novelist blushed harder (if he could possibly get any redder) and shook his head furiously, “hyung can you please stop teasing me?”
The cafe owner chuckled and patted Junsu’s head, “fine Su... I’ll stop but just because you’re too cute. Yoochun-ssi, please have a seat and try some of our products.”
Before Yoochun could answer, YunJi appeared with Changmin’s orders and a few more pastries...”Master Changmin, here are your orders. And for Master Yoochun, here’s your favourite ‘Pierrot pie’ and black coffee.”
The singer murmured his thanks and swatted Changmin’s sneaking hand before moving the pie closer to him. Jaejoong and Junsu turned confusedly at YunJi who grinned, “Yoochun-ssi is actually a regular here. He ordered thirty pieces of cream puffs last time. We talked a bit before... so I’m glad he was the guy strawberry hyung was talking about.”
“You ordered the bulk of cream puffs a few months ago?”
Yoochun nodded, “it’s the favourite of this monster dongsaeng of mine.”
YunHo continued to stare at Jaejoong who started to shift uncomfortably, “YunHo hyung... you’re making him uncomfortable.”
The Kims gaped at Changmin who was now wiping his lips with the tissue, “You’re finished?”
Changmin smiled brightly and nodded, “yup! I was right too! All the pastries tasted nice but those cream puffs will always be my favourite...I think I fell in love.”
YunJi felt warmth creep into his cheeks and he hurriedly excused himself much to his hyung’s amusement. “YunJi-yah is so cute!”
“Did you make all of this Jaejoong-ssi?”
The cafe owner shook his head and smiled, “there are three of us who works in the kitchen... I, YunJi and Key... Key specializes in making the coffee while YunJi and I specialize in pastries. YunJi makes the cream puffs though, if that’s what you want to know Changmin-ssi.“
“Oh... I guess it’s him I should propose to then?”
“What?! Changmin are you serious?”
Changmin leaned and smiled innocently, “maybe... maybe not.”
“Aish this kid!”
“What?! YunJi is just a baby!”
“You really will propose to YunJi?!”
Yoochun scratched his head and sighed, “Changmin stop freaking everyone around you... ”
“I’m not... I was merely saying what was on my mind and that isn’t wrong.”
Yoochun squeezed Junsu’s hand lightly and whispered, “He’s always like that...”
The younger Jung merely grinned at Jaejoong, “We will be going soon so... can you please hand us the bill and I’m also going to take 30 more cream puffs.”
“So soon?” Jaejoong’s face did not hide the disappointment he was feeling but he was able to catch himself and added, “I mean you’re getting 30 cream puffs?”
The changes in Jaejoong’s face did not escape YunHo’s eyes and he smiled, “make that 60... We’ll also give out some to our employees.”
“u-um... okay... Taeminnie!”
YunHo saw the cute boy who opened the door for them walk closer to Jaejoong and gave them a nervous glance, “Y-yes hyung?”
“Please tell MinHo to get the bill for Table 9 ready then tell YunJi to get 60 cream puffs ready for take out.”
Taemin nodded and went directly to MinHo who nodded and started on the bill for the guests. Junsu bit his lower lip and looked at the man whose fingers are slightly brushing his, “you... have to go too? You still haven’t explained why people called you Miggy. Is that a secret name?”
Yoochun laughed loud, “Su... It’s not Miggy... it’s...”
“KYAAAAAAAAAA!!!!”
YunHo and Yoochun looked at each other worryingly, “Uh oh... are we busted?”
YunJi effectively set a hand on Key’s mouth after that shriek and smiled charmingly to the guests, “um... he just got excited after seeing me... sorry to scare everyone. Please continue eating.”
The patrons chuckled and continued eating as YunJi dragged the hyperventilating barista over to the direction of Table 9.
“Sorry Key did I hurt you? I might have exerted too much strength.”
The younger one blushed and patted his now red skin, “its okay hyung... I surprised you. ”
YunJi sighed and lightly touched Key’s cheek and mouth, “still... that’s not a valid enough reason...let me get you an ice pack after I deliver this over to Table 9 okay?”
Key nodded meekly and walked behind YunJi who smiled, “Jae hyung... there’s only 40 left but I can make more if they can wait.”
Yoochun smiled, “I can stay and wait for the rest. I’m not in hurry. I’m off for the day according to the boss.”
The barista peeked from behind YunJi and he almost screamed if not for Jaejoong’s hand covering his lips, “seriously Key... please stop screaming...”
“B-but... that... he’s Micky... and... Kya----“
Yoochun removed his cap and smiled to the fangirlingboying barista, “I can give you a signature if you would refrain from shouting... we can’t have others barging into the cafe.”
YunHo grinned at the youngest Kim, “you heard him right? Can you do that for Micky?”
Key nodded vigorously and Jaejoong slowly released his hold on Key’s mouth, “c-can I really? Oh my God wait I don’t have any paper! Oh my camera! Micky-ssi, please wait for me I won’t be long... is my hair okay? Jinki hyung have you seen my phone?”
Everyone watched Key as he rushed to the employee lockers. Yoochun released a relieved sigh and face the others with a smile, “whew... cleared.”
“Yeah I thought we were busted for a while there.”
Changmin crossed his legs and placed a hand under his chin, “well we are technically busted... good thing Jaejoong-sshi and Yunji-ssi has good reflexes.”
Jaejoong’s eyes grew in realization and he gasped, “wait a minute... you... you’re the singer/actor Micky Park? The first Korean to debut on Billboard 10 and starred on a Hollywood film?”
Yoochun nodded and the cousins smiled proudly, “oh wow... sorry I... I didn’t recognize you. Well I did but I didn’t think you would come to my cafe and....”
Junsu and YunJi both looked adorably confused and Jaejoong wasn’t able to resist the urge to pinch their cheeks, “aw.... cute!!!!”
“hyung!” “umma!”
YunHo gaped, “you... both don’t know who Micky is?”
Junsu shook his head and YunJi scoffed, “isn’t that the mouse in Disney films?”
Changmin almost fell off his chair in laughter if YunHo had not caught him in time. Yoochun stared disbelievingly at YunJi and cleared his throat, “I...er... that’s Mickey Mouse YunJi-ssi... my screen name is Micky Park, spelled without the ‘e’. I’ve released some songs and acted at some dramas since 2005.”
Jaejoong nodded, “Ji-ah... Micky Park is the first and also the most famous talent of Cassiopeia Entertainment. He sang ‘vacancies for you’ for a drama ost he starred in too.”
YunJi’s eyes glittered, “ooh... the one I always sing when I bake umma?”
Jaejoong nodded and Junsu felt everything start to sink in, “so... you’re famous?”
Yoochun saw the flicker of doubt in Junsu’s eyes and he immediately supplied, “yes to some extent but I’ve never...”
Key burst through the human wall and handed a marker and illustration board to the surprised Yoochun, “please put ‘to my sweet Key’”
Yoochun quickly put on his business smile and answered, “arasso...”
YunHo looked at his watch and sighed, “We really need to go Min... Yuri’s been calling for a while now.”
Changmin yawned and also checked his watch, “yeah...can I have my cream puffs now?”
YunJi smiled and handed the take out boxes, “I’ve also added mango tart and apple custard to the take out since we weren’t able to give the exact order.”
“Thanks but wait.... I don’t think I’ve tasted any of those today...”
Jaejoong smiled weakly, “ah those are YunJi’s current projects. They’re not for sale yet so you will be the first customer to try them out.”
YunHo chuckled, “you won’t be able to shake him off if you continue to do that YunJi-ssi.”
YunJi gave YunHo a puzzled look and shrugged when he received no explanations. MinHo tapped Jaejoong’s shoulder and bowed when he left. YunJi clicked his tongue and pouted, “That kid doesn’t really talk a lot. He should have been Snow white hyung’s brother and not Simba hyung’s...”
YunHo took the bill from Jaejoong’s hand and took his wallet to cover for the expenses. Changmin stood and walked closer to YunJi, “YunJi-ssi... Let’s exchange email addresses!”
“huh? Why?”
“So that you can send me a message when new products come out...and also to ask you out when you have time.”
Jaejoong pulled YunJi behind him and smiled as sweetly as he could, “We can exchange emails instead Changmin-ssi... you can tell me your feedback and I’ll tell Ji.”
Changmin smirked at the oldest Kim, “give your email address to YunHo hyung... he may have a use for it.”
“Oh right, give me your email address Jaejoong-ssi... we can talk later if that’s all right. I just need to go back to the office or Yuri’ll get pissed but I’ll contact you as soon as possible.”
Jaejoong smiled weakly, “S-sure...”
While Jaejoong was busy talking with YunHo and Junsu lost in his own world, YunJi glared at the younger Jung. “Leave me alone.”
“Sorry little Kim... I’ve got my eyes on you.”
“It would be for your own good not to have anything to do with me.” “He’s dangerous... I can’t let my guard down.”
Changmin smiled, “thank you for the concern but there’s something about you that I am curious about and I won’t stop until I know what it is. That and because you make good food.”
YunJi’s eyes darkened but Changmin stood unfazed, “see ya little Ji. I’ll contact you.”
Key bowed several times as Yoochun finished signing the illustration board. Yoochun noticed that Su was absent mindedly looking outside, “Su? Are you okay?”
Junsu flinched when he felt a hand touch his shoulder and he smiled weakly when he saw that it was Yoochun’s, “Y-yes I’m sorry...”
Yoochun gave a small smile of his own and stared into Junsu’s eyes, “are you bothered by the fact that I’m a star? If you are, I can quit tomorrow if you want.”
“Why? I’m sure you are enjoying what you do so why will you give it up for an average guy like me?”
Yoochun patted the space left by Changmin and Junsu sat quietly, “Why? Because I like you...”
Junsu blushed and looked down, “you make it sound so simple... you don’t even know who I really am.”
“You’re Kim Junsu...gorgeous and nice... the other details I can learn as we go along...why make things complicated if it can be as simple as that?”
"I... I don't..."
A/N: I'm not really satisfied with this chapter *sigh* the next one should be better...
