Chapter 21: Haunts of the Past
North Forest, Lacroix
Suzy and Dify appeared in the middle of a clearing… the earth fairy immediately sprinted to the rabbit’s house and checked his babies… “ah they’re all right…”
Suzy raised an eyebrow at the Earth fairy who sheepishly chuckled… “Sorry… I thought something wrong happened to the babies causing the rabbit dad to get stressed…”
“It’s okay… I’ll start checking updates from Harriet. I’ll see you later.”
The earth fairy nodded and walked crouched to touch a wilting flower making it bloom naturally, “there you go...”
Out of the corner of Dify’s eye, she saw familiar flowers standing proudly in the middle of the forest… she stopped and walked closer to the beautifully blooming flowers…
“What are you doing?”
Dify jumped at the sudden voice and slapped the shoulder of the chuckling young man…”Ya! I thought I told you never to surprise me like that?!”
“Yeah you did but I can’t resist wanting to see your cute surprised expression…”
“Aish… how many times do I have to tell you to act your age?!”
The young man merely grinned, used to the young earth fairy’s outburst and took out a bouquet of tulips, stock, daisy, and forget-me-nots. Dify scoffed but took the bouquet from the man’s hand nevertheless… “What’s this?”
“Flowers for my beautiful fiancé… I specifically chose those flowers for you…”
Dify glanced at the bouquet and mentally thought of the meanings…
Tulip means perfect love…
Stock means "You will always be beautiful to me”
Dify blushed but suppressed the strong want to smile when she saw the stupid grin on her fiancés face…
Daisy means loyal love and Innocence…
And…
Forget-me-not means True love and good memories…
The earth fairy sighed and the young man’s smile disappeared, “did you not like it? I can always change them if you want…”
Dify gasped, horrified at the young man’s suggestion and soon a brick falls on top of his head… “Ow!”
“Who do you think you are thinking of taking my flowers away?! Go on and attend your magic classes! I’ll put these in a vase!”
The young man grinned and stole a kiss from Dify’s lips before running towards the big castle… Dify stared at the retreating figure of the young fairy and a small smile appeared on her face…
“Tch… stupid guy… even wasting time to pick me flowers than practicing magic and sword fighting…”
Dify looked away from the flowers and stared at the deer who was nudging her arm… “Oh I’m sorry, I was thinking about something… is there anything wrong?”
The deer nudged her on the elbow harder and ran, “all right… I’m coming… and this better not be one of your favorite grass spots wilting or I’ll smack you!”
On the other side of the forest, Fairy Suzy was strolling around the North forest… checking out the plants growing nicely and the tall trees that seem to tower all round the north…
“Ah… Dify made a real good job maintaining this place… I think I need more big trees in the south just to make it equal.”
Suddenly the branches behind her rustled and Suzy jumped to the air, wand immediately turning to her lance… “Who’s there?!”
Silence greeted the wind fairy and she slowly descended to the ground still guarded and ready for any possible attacks… “I know you’re there. This is my last warning. Come out or suffer the consequences.”
A hand shot out of the bushes and Suzy jumped high for the second time that day…
“Hello there… Lacroix wind master…”
A fairy with dark brown wings came out and stretched… his eyes were sparkling with amusement and the wind fairy gritted her teeth. “It’s been some time since we have seen each other little Suzy…”
“What are you doing here?”
Soft brown eyes turned to slits, grin still visible on his face… “Aren’t you supposed to call me Uncle?”
Suzy glared and spat, “No uncle of mine betrays his kingdom and joins the dark forces.”
Dark Fairy Tae Woo launched into a full blown laughter, “You are too much like Dongwan my dear… too nice… too patriotic… that’s why he’s in eternal slumber…”
“Leave my father out of this!”
“He would have been conscious right now if he chose to give your mother to King WooHyuk as a concubine…”
Suzy gritted her teeth and tightened her hold on the lance, “get.the hell.out.of.my.face.”
Taewoo leered, inwardly rejoicing at the anger reflected on his niece’s face… “Why? You used to always say that I was your favorite uncle…”
“The only uncle I have is Danny Ahn.”
“Ah… your slut mother’s little brother… I remember him.”
Suzy clenched her fists and as launched an attack against the dark fairy who used his arm shark to block. “Tsk.. tsk.. Still weak I see…”
“Shut up!”
Another laugh from the dark fairy and Suzy launched a wind ball aiming for her uncle’s chest but he was faster… he disappeared from where he initially was only to appear behind Suzy and then kick her from behind.
“Nuh-uh… try harder kid.”
Suzy swung her lance and flew to her smirking uncle’s direction, “Die!”
Taewoo caught Suzy’s arm and twisted it behind her earning a loud painful shout from the younger, releasing the lance she was holding on the ground… returning to its original state ( a regular wand)...
“No slut’s daughter… you die.”
Suzy knew she had to fight back… she cannot die, not yet… not until her father wakes up… not until the Dark Fairy king is dead. She wriggled and stomped as hard as she could; Taewoo expected that and moved his foot away.
However, the wind fairy was not done yet…ignoring the pain on her left arm she crouched and kicked Taewoo’s chest before turning then giving a roundhouse kick, hitting her uncle on the head.
Suzy stood a few meters away from the slowly getting up Taewoo, free hand clutching the now immovable arm…the hatred clearly visible on her face.
“Stupid girl… I was planning to let you live but you piss me off. “
Taewoo raised a hand and Qiennes appeared magically in front of him, “kill her”.
The wind fairy bit her lower lip, “Tch… I could summon a wind ball to ask for back up but it would take time and my arm isn’t up for it yet…“
Taewoo laughed like a maniac and leered at his niece, “Ready to die my beloved niece?”
“I’ll die with honor unlike you, Uncle.”
The Qiennes attacked at the same time and Suzy closed her eyes… “I’m sorry umma… appa… I tried my best.”
A sudden gust of wind mixed with dried leaves appeared in front of the Lacroix fairy and she lowered her head a bit to save her eyes from the dust.
“Pick on someone your own size, Taewoo…”
When the wind dissipated, a handsome man stood in its place… his small eyes serious and deadly as he lifted the swords on both hands. He jumped on air and landed gracefully on the shoulders of one Qienne… the mysterious man smirked and motioned the monsters to come closer which the Qiennes did with a growl…
The man jumped again but this time taking the Qienne he was standing on with him… he used the added leverage to hit the other ones before letting his captive go, slicing it in the middle and landing safely on the ground.
Dark Fairy Taewoo gritted his teeth as he watched the mystery man slice the Qiennes in halves making them burst to ashes. He breathed in deeply and willed a smirk back on his face,
“I’m glad your skills have improved… King WooHyuk would be proud…”
“Tell your master he can rot in hell for all I care.”
Taewoo tsk-ed and shook his head… “Ah… still as stubborn as we first met. Why are you trying to prolong this? You know you cannot alter your fate.”
The man glared with intensity at the dark fairy and spat…“I write my own destiny, Taewoo… I’m not a coward like you.”
The dark fairy however just cackled and winked as soon as he saw the prince transferring power to his dual sword… “I would have loved to stay but I’m a celebrity, ah… if you wish to save the bones of that girl… you better bring her to a capable healer quick. "
The wind fairy felt her body succumbing to the pain the last fight took and slumped on the floor, groaning. Taewoo smirked when he saw the mystery man gritting his teeth and running to the younger fairy, “Suzy dear, I’ll be back to finish you off… till then have fun!”
The man turned around to glare at the dark fairy but the latter already flicked his finger and slowly disappeared… the man then turned to the fairy twisting in pain…
“Where can I take you?”
Suzy gritted her teeth still supporting her other arm, she breathed out… “Lacroix”
The man’s face was morphed to one of surprise but he immediately masked it and a blank expression appeared on his face.
“Where in Lacroix?”
“W-wooneuk castle… my…friends are there with the… fairy royalties for the princess’ birthday…”
Suzy was surprised at how easy she was able to spill out information she normally would keep to the fairy she just met. The man crouched and lifted her bridal style, making sure not to add any pressure to the broken arm.
“Ah wait… my friend… s-she’s somewhere around… urgh….I - I have to… tell…”
The man shook his head and started walking, “we can send an elemental message to your friend as soon as we get you to Wooneuk.”
Suzy nodded and bit her lower lip as the mystery man hoisted her up a bit and the wind around them started to pick up…
“Uh… mister… you… are a fairy, right?”
“What do you think?”
Suzy just smiled and the mystery fairy smiled back transforming his handsome face… the wind around both fairies got stronger and they disappeared into thin air.
