So I haven't really gotten a lot of time to write yet but here I am now January 7th finally writing to all of you.

First- Today was the first day it snowed since I've been here. There was snow on the ground when I got here but today was the first snowy day. However, it is called a "wintry mix" because it is somewhere between snow and rain. We took a small group hike today to explore the park and we stumbled upon an old mill (without a wheel). Marlee told me that in the 1900s people used to live around there and in the summer that I should be able to find cellar holes from old houses. The houses aren't there anymore because in the 20s there was a huge forest fire. I can't wait to explore!

Second- Last night we had an after dinner optional activity of going on a night hike and I obviously went. We hiked to a place called smith pond. Now, hiking in snow is much different than hiking without snow, VERY TIRING, but it was so well worth it because smith pond isn't really a pond in the summer it is a marsh and was iced and snowed over so the clearing was lit by moonlight with some small trees (without leaves) sticking out.

Every morning I wake up here and don't believe that I live in a place that is this beautiful. One of my cabin mates is really into yoga so we wake up at 6 and do morning yoga and then have breakfast at 7. Everyone here is so easy to get along with but the more I talk to them I can't believe that I made it into the program, but so glad that I'm able to be here.

I'll try to keep more in touch! I love and miss all of you!
Ali
