I am trying to resist the lure, but I'd imagine I will be one of those who jump happily on the Diablo 3 train when it's released. :) Played the first a little and didn't care for it. Never played the second.

There's a game out now called Torchlight that's really good, and cheap. Everyone says it's "Diablo 3 until Diablo 3 comes out".

You know, I think I've heard of Torchlight. I think a few of the people I've played with have tried it or went over to it. But I don't think I talk to those people anymore. xD

Though I can't play anything (besides Facebook and OMGPOP games...) until I get a new comp...which will probably happen whenever my Federal Tax Return comes in! :3

It runs on pretty low-caliber systems! I'd check it out of I were you. It runs on most netbooks. I got it for $10 during one of Steam's sales. :) I think it's normally $20. For a while it was even $5 during their holiday sale (for like a day).

It has no multiplayer mode, tho, so if that's what you like about Diablo, you won't find that here. Single-player only.

Unless it's browser-based, I probably won't be able to play it. The laptop I'm using, while built for entertainment, apparently can't handle games. xD I was able to play Fiesta (and then Cloud Nine) for a few months. And then it started acting up. 8| I haven't even had this laptop for a year yet. I bought it in April 2009 ( ... )

Yuck, that's awful! What brand is it so that I may shun said brand?

But truthfully, it can happen to even the best.

Sounds to me like a faulty video card. Perhaps also overheating problems.

It's an HP. (HP Pavilion dv7 1264nr to be exact.) Apparently, a friend told me that his friend said they don't last very long. xD

Though...they're PC gamers too (more hardcore than me, of course) and they do some design stuff. So yeah!

When I was researching the problem, I thought it was something wrong with the driver for my wireless. But then when I researched it again, it seemed more like issues with the graphics card. Which is apparently difficult to replace, and if done wrong can mess up my laptop. o.o;

But yeah. I'm going to try Dell this time! I'm eyeing Alienware...but I kind of want some money left over for other things. xD So I might go with something else that's Dell...but maybe not Alienware. A lot of the games I play don't demand very much...

But I just like the thought of being able to do something if I wanted to. xD

Yeah. :) It's nice to have the power if you need it.

I'd look into ASUS if I were you. They're fairly high-powered, or can be at least, and are reliable. I was going to buy an ASUS but ended up with a more expensive, non-branded laptop (Sager). Best computer I've ever had, minus a few disturbing problems.

Lots of Dell horror-stories, too...... Google Dell Horror Story and you will find some I'm sure :P But maybe that's true with any brand.

What do you mean by, "a few disturbing problems"? XD

And yeah...there are probably just as many HP horror stories...and probably Toshiba too. (Though my Toshiba lasted pretty long for what I put it through...*plus* the fact that it fell a few times and despite a key or two popping off, stayed in one piece and worked perfectly fine.)

There was one particular Dell comp (not Alienware) that I wanted to get...but I think I was looking at a super-expensive model. It had a 1TB hard drive, 8GB RAM...way more than I need. XD Though the 1TB HD would be very nice... xD

I was also looking at Widow PC but I don't know of anyone that's used them. Though the few people I've asked said they look good. xD

Wow, 8gb ram is a lot. Probably overkill. :) Yes, lots of hard drive space is very nice, though.

Well, my Sager is fantastic, has never even so much as had a system error. BUT. For one bizarre reason, they wired the audio in such a manner that the speakers do not get full frequency. Nor does the headphone jack. It's absolutely stupid. I bought a soundcard that plugs into the USB (about the size of a thumb drive), and this solved it. could also have gotten one for the card slot. It's just stupid that I should have to.

It's also got a fingerprint reader (which was just an extra) that is next to useless. Why include it if it's going to suck?

And the touchpad is terrible. I use a mouse 90% of the time, but it's still annoying.

Other than that, best computer I've ever owned. :) I just can't believe those little things slipped past. It's insane when everything else is so fantastic.

Hmm. Yeah, the soundcard thing might bother me. xD

If I manage to get another comp, I'm gonna get better speakers for it. xDDDD I'm planning on getting a big (at least 17" which is how big my laptop is) monitor too... And the comp needs to be able to play bluray. xD On top of the at least 4GB RAM and a decent-ish gfx card/processor...though I'm gonna have to check with the others what they think is "decent" since I only recently started paying attention to such things.

Yeah, video cards are tough to sort through. Ugh. Mine has the best laptop graphics processor around. :) Or it was the best in December, at any rate. I should game more to justify it!

I've just got 4GB of ram, which is plenty unless you're going to do some seriously epic multitasking.

The soundcard thing is absurd. I have no idea what they were thinking. But, if you're using external speakers anyway, and buy an external soundcard, it wouldn't matter anyway. It's not like they sound bad or anything.. The speakers themselves are great. It's just that the wiring is messed up. If i were smart I bet I could disconnect something useless and fix the wiring to the speakers.

I am not smart, however. If they make future models in such a fashion, they are not smart either!
