While Jirou-chan and I were waiting to be let in to work today, we noticed a stray patron wandering around in the library.
One of the circ supervisors saw him, as well as the guy that handles the library's A/V equipment. Instead of them unlocking the doors so he could leave, he exited through the doors that were supposed to have been locked.
If you've been on campus before, you'll remember the coffee cart. They store their equipment in the library lobby. They were setting up this morning, and while they were maneuvering their carts through the wide-open doors, patrons had slipped in and begun using the library facilities before we were open to them.
Which is a bad thing. Because if someone had seen and complained, it would've turned into a bigger issue.
Still...it's not fair that people got to come in and use the computers and whatnot earlier that normal.
There's also been cases of HITS students leaving their classroom and coming down to use library equipment. One such student, who is notorious for becoming irate when not allowed to do as she pleases, began complaining when we refused to help her.
She had made her way down from the third floor, and approached the circulation desk wanting us to either fix her print card or add money to it (which we can't do at the circ desk anyway). She was told, "I'm sorry, we're not open yet, so you'll have to wait until after 8:00." She got angry and started complaining about bad customer service and how we were right there and how could we not help her?!
For one thing, if she wanted us to do any kind of financial transaction, we would be unable to do so. The cash drawer hadn't been replenished yet, it also hadn't been counted. So the totals for the day would be off.
Also, in the mornings before we're open, we're trying to do other things like change the stamp dates,
So one of the supervisors said that she's going to suggest that the coffee cart not start setting up until after we open at 8:00.
Also, somehow, ACS had the bright idea to remove the CPU from one of the PC Lab computer stations. They took the CPU but left the monitor. This resulted in people plopping down in front of said monitor, and wondering why it wasn't turning on. After looking around confusedly for a few seconds, they'd realize there is no CPU, then get up and move somewhere else.
But, if it wasn't ACS labs that moved that CPU then ... I dunno. They need better locks. Or something.
I was seriously considering bringing in my laptop, but then when I looked at the schedule, I didn't have much breaks in between work and class, so there really wasn't any point...
Plus I can take notes the old-fashioned way...by hand! xD
Yay for Sharpies! <3
Anyway, I should probably get going. =.= I hope they fix the air conditioning soon. D: It's too hot in there. ><;;
