Art theft progress update.
Progress on the stolen art front is going slow but at least there is some sort of progress. I honestly can't see why that person is digging their heels in so deeply about it. Maybe they resent being called an art thief in my LJ and DA pages? Though I never named names and that is what they did. They took a picture of mine without my consent or knowledge and used it without permission. I believe that's the definition of art theft.
Ya know, I think I'll check anyway!
"Art theft is the theft of a copyrighted piece of work. This includes: Mutilation, taking credit, or redistributing it without the artist's permission."
Sounds about what happened to me, but let's break down the terms, shall we?
art (ärt) pronunciation
n.
1. The conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, movements, or other elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty, specifically the production of the beautiful in a graphic or plastic medium.
theft (thĕft) pronunciation
n.
1. The act or an instance of stealing; larceny.
2. Obsolete. Something stolen.
Hmm... I suppose defining stealing is next.
steal Pronunciation (stl)
v. stole (stl), sto•len (stln), steal•ing, steals
v.tr.
1. To take (the property of another) without right or permission.
2. To appropriate (ideas, credit, words, etc.) without right or acknowledgment.
v.intr.
1. To commit theft.
So, basically, art theft is taking the property of someone, IE a picture someone did, and in this case it was mine, without right or permission. That was what happened to me.
Though apparently the general term "art thief" is offensive to someone who committed such an act even if it's used to replace their name in a neutral fashion. I didn't realize there was a Politically Correct version to it. Someone mind telling me what it is or should I make one up?
Bah, I'm tired of this topic, so I'm gonna move on!
I updated my DA page. I finally put in all the copyrights and an added blurb about not altering or redistributing my works. I also added the Creative Commons legal protection to them, which is a nice thing. Still debating on retroactively editing my pictures though.
Hmm... this seems to be more of the same. Let's go further!
My connection seems to hate me today, not sure why. Though that's not really notable...
Well I have done some more pictures. Unfortunately Aqua's been having lots of computer problems so I've got no real venue for scanning for a while. Renovations are going slow still. Neon and I are back on the job on working on Oneiromancy.
Oh, oh yes! There is news about stories here to tell!
Aurora has been finished! All that's left is to clean up the next chapters for posting. I mentioned it in the authors' notes in the beginning of the latest chapter, but I'll mention it here too. No, I'm not gonna tell how many chapters are left in here either. ;P
It's such a satisfying accomplishment after it took so long to get to this point, including a number of revisions.
However, speaking of revisions, rather than going into Bring Me To Life for our next YGO fic, we're going to be doing another Ancient Egypt story. Chances are it's going to be much shorter than Aurora and, no, it's not going to be in the same canon as it or Fallen Star. I'd give more details but we're in the planning stages for it and before we start it we're concentrating on tackling other stories first. We want to finish Oneiromancy for example. We're hoping it'll end up being longer than Dreaming To Reality originally was by the time we're done with it, which was a whopping 388 pages! Blew me away when I checked that.
We've got more stories than that we're working on as well. Man, Neon and I sure have a ton of awesome story ideas. It's great.
Unfortunately some creative blockage is going on as well.
In Mysteries Inc. I hit a wall with my character, Ash. Ever have one of those moments where you suddenly become so detached from a character you're not sure what you're doing with them anymore? That's what happened to me to make it hard to post lately. I'm thinking I might have to revamp him, though I'm not entirely sure how given we're in the middle of things. x_X
I suppose there's not much else that can be done there unfortunately. I just have to think of something.

I think that's all on the creative front. With more IRL stuff it's been pretty quiet aside from being sick. I'm gonna try signing up for that anime class follow-up course at the college for spring though. I feel bad that I didn't get to go to the party from last semester because I got sick. Hopefully we'll have another one this time and I'll be able to go to it. And hopefully the entire class will be as fun as the last one.
Aaaaaaaand that's about all the interesting things I can think of right now to go into this entry. I live quite the exciting life, no?
