Ohno had always been a discreet person.
He wasn't used to express clearly his thoughts as he was confident that those people close to him, those people he needed to be understood by, would have always been able to figure out his feelings without needing him to talk…
It had always been like that since his childhood, when his mother welcomed him home after his school activities, realizing with a quick glance whether something had gone wrong that day.
It had been the same also when he started working in the entertainment industry, indeed a tough world for a not-ambitious guy like him… but even in that strict environment, he had been lucky enough to meet kind and caring people, who would give him support and comprehension even though they were younger than him… Arashi members.
One of them in particular: he may have been born later than him, but this didn’t make him literally “a younger person”, a kouhai. Ohno Satoshi had never considered him in that way.
Because Sakurai Sho had always been much more mature, independent and reliable, than Oh-chan itself could ever possibly be.
HE was the one Satoshi could always rely on. The one he would ask for advice whenever he needed help, whether for private or work-related matters. No wonder that in a few years his admiration grew into something deeper.
It didn’t happen all of a sudden, but it grew slowly day by day… until Ohno realized to feel really good when he was by Sho-kun’s side, more than with any other Arashi member. And even when he happened to be nervous or worried before a filming session, the rapper was always able to calm him down and make him feel at ease.
However, for quite a long time the talented dancer didn’t feel the urge to express or share those feelings. He was happy as things were, with Sakurai as a close friend and nothing more: he just loved staying by his side, listening at his passionate talks, hearing his hearty laughs… He had never considered the fact that this situation would turn into a problem one day.
He was happy, Sho was oblivious, everything was fine.
It was when he started noticing Aiba’s particular behavior towards the rapper that he started as well feeling troubled. He couldn’t tell exactly when it had began, but he was under the impression that a little at a time, the Chiba boy was getting closer and closer to Sho-kun, everytime with a new pretext. Taking advantage of any possible chance to sit next to him, to walk arm in arm, to exchange jokes together… to chat alone with him. Stealing all the chances that Satoshi had to do the same.
And when Ohno realized that Aiba was cutting him off from those few free moments in Sho’s working day, he started being really jealous.
Not being aware what that feeling actually was.
He noticed soon that he felt uncomfortable when the rapper was smiling warmly at Masaki alone, and he felt frustrated anytime the energetic animal lover called out Sho-chan right when he was about to sit next to the leader in their greenroom’s couch… leaving him alone, with no other choice but to stare at the two of them having fun together.
Ohno was sure that Masaki wasn’t doing it on purpose, as he was a cheerful person by nature who loved sharing his happiness with his friends, yet he couldn’t help but feel a little angry with him. And this made him feel even worse… because he felt guilty, and sorry, in getting angry with the kind Aiba-chan… he had always been such a nice boy!
But one particular day, no matter how fond of Aiba he may have been, he couldn’t help but react badly towards him: it happened was when the miracle boy stole his place on their greenroom’s couch for the umpteenth time, leaning his head on Sho’s lap on the pretext of “being tired and in need of relax”.
Unfortunately, Ohno was tired for real and he had been longing for his personal remedy for a long time already… so he burst into a sudden, apparently unmotivated, rage “Don’t pretend you’re that tired while you’ve been playing silly jokes with Nino until a minute ago!” he shouted angrily.
Useless to say, that unexpected outcome left all Arashi members speechless, while staring at their -usually very calm- leader in astonishment.
“Ohno-san, are you alright?” Sho had been the first one who spoke, expressing concern with his usual polite tone.
And that very calm tone made the talented dancer become suddenly aware of what he had just done, feeling ashamed about it.
“Yes… No… I’m sorry” he mumbled under his breath right before turning towards the door, giving his back to his still dismayed friends “I guess I’m just tired after all… I’ll go take a coffee. I’ll come back before filming starts”
And saying that, he left the room in a rush.
After their leader had exited the green room, the Arashi members stared silently at each other for a few instants, not sure of what they were supposed to do. All of them knew perfectly how to deal with Jun’s hysterisms, with Nino’s moody days or Aiba’s fits of crying… but none of them had ever faced a bad tempered Ohno Satoshi.
Once again, Sakurai Sho took the initiative as a "substitute Leader" and stood up from the couch while thinking over those happenings.
“I’ll go checking on Ohno-san, if he’ll alright” he said calmly. Then he turned towards the animal lover, who was still sitting and waiting for him to say something else “Sorry Aiba-chan, but you’ll have to rest on your own for the time being…”
To tell the truth, the rapper wasn’t as shocked as his bandmates were.
It has been a while since he had first noticed something strange in Satoshi’s behavior but he hadn’t been able to focus it clearly. Due to a lot of circumstances, he had had very little chances to talk freely with him recently, so he couldn’t really tell what was going on… but he guessed that with all probability Ohno itself was missing their intimate conversations, and he could have the urge to confide in him as he was used to do before.
So he went looking for him.
And when he finally found the artist, wandering aimlessly in the corridors -with absolutely no intention to take a coffee as he had said before- he became even more sure that something was wrong.
“Mind if I join you for that coffee?” he asked with a smile, approaching to him
The Arashi leader raised immediately his head, showing a painful expression, almost scared.
“I’ve changed my mind about that coffee” he mumbled lowly, lowering his gaze with shame “I just need to stay on my own and calm down a bit”
“Ok, then just tell me: are you alright?” insisted the rapper, trying to look straight into his eyes, as to read his real thoughts. “You know, Aiba-chan didn’t want to…”
“I KNOW.” Ohno interrupted him, averting his gaze once again “I’ll apologize to him later. It’s not his fault If I am this moody. But I need to calm down first”
“Why?” Sho’s voice had become a soft whisper already “Why are you feeling this bad?”
Why you haven’t told me earlier? Why I haven’t realized it until now? Were the implicit questions that he wasn’t able to voice out loud.
“I don’t know” Ohno shrugged his shoulders. “It’s just painful.”
“What?” insisted the rapper “What is that makes you feel this bad?”
“You.” The leader was now trembling, his hands closed in fists down his sides, his gaze fixed on the floor “And Aiba. It’s getting harder for me, to watch at you, day after day. It’s painful. I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but I can’t help it. My chest… I don’t know… it aches.”
Sakurai was surprised in hearing those words, but his first instinctive reaction has been a tender smile towards his bandmate.
“Is this what you are feeling? For real?” he asked then, trying to calm down himself first and using all his rational mind to analyze and comprehend the latest happenings… It was true: he could recall that Ohno’s behavior started changing when started getting closer and closer to him. Which happened several months ago.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
The artist mumbled his answer in a tiny voice, unsure if he really wanted Sho to hear his words…
“Because I was afraid, I guess”
“Afraid of me?” The younger man was now looking at his leader with a warm, reassuring expression, as to say
“Afraid of your reaction” specified the expert dancer
“Oh… I get it… But at this point we can’t ignore this fact anymore…” Sakurai concluded in a firm tone “We need to solve this as soon as possible”
Ohno closed shut his eyes, afraid of what was coming next. Sho was going to ask him to stay away from him and Aiba in order not to get irritated while looking at them? Or would he suggest him to be more focused on his own job instead, in order to forget those feelings as soon as possible?
None of those options seemed practicable to him. Neither he liked them.
But Sho had always been his great confident in any situation: he always knew what was the best thing to do. And he was always right. The artist was willing to do anything, he was definitely going to follow any suggestion.
That’s why when he felt his soft lips leaned on his own, Satoshi’s heart skipped a beat.
This can’t be the solution. He thought.
But soon after that, when not only the rapper’s lips but also his hands and arms leant on Ohno’s trembling body, the Arashi member felt immediately better. He recognized it as the exciting sensation he was used to feel when he was happily by his side… though much more intense.
His heart was beating faster, but not in an unpleasant way… it felt good!
He felt happy. At ease.
As if he had been looking after this very sensation for a endless time.
“so… Am I right? Are you feeling better now?” asked Sakurai with a smile when he finally moved back
“Yeah…” replied Ohno, still surprised “But… how could you know? …That this was the solution, I mean”
Ohno Satoshi may had been the eldest, but surely he was the most naïve among them all.
“Who knows… I just felt doing it, I guess” chuckled the rapper “And because this is the very same thing I had been looking for as well”

“Hey Aiba-chan! You are aware that you went a little too far this time, aren’t you?” asked an amused Nino to his bandmate, who was leaning onto him in the much longed greenroom’s couch.
“Yeah, I know that” replied the miracle boy hugging him tightly “When he was shouting against me before, I got really scared… but honestly, I was really tired of not cuddling with you because I was supposed to make him jealous…”
“You had been the one who proposed the game…” laughed the brat “…and you were the one in charge of teasing Oh-chan!”
Aiba stared at his playmate for a second. A new idea was coming.
“Hey Nino! What about reversing our roles and play again? We could make Sho jealous this time… for example, you could start groping Riida’s butt during concert s…”
*big grin*
